We went to a Pentecostal church. For the first time,it
was very different for me. Toward the end I went out to the car and listened to music. It was very different for me but am happy my wife got to see old friends
i grew up a jw but my parents were not regularly attending services at a kh.
they used to, and were thoroughly indoctrinated though.
as is the jws habit of visiting non-attenders, 2 sisters came to my mom and dad's door one day to inquire of our well-being.

the last assembly i attended was over 10 years ago.
the monotone speakers, boring talks, uncomfortable seats, long prayers and nodding off after the lunch break did me in.
i survived the morning sessions, but the afternoon sessions were brutal.
Our Cong. rented a bus for the convention. Newly married we got two seats on the bus. We got to the KH early in the morning I drove in the parking lot and found a school bus!. Im 6 ft 3 in. tall cant fit in this bus seat and no bathroom. We got back into the car and drove there. What a joke. We gave our bus seats to someone else.

Long gal said...What I also hated was the overly long closing prayer.. If people were smart they left before the song and prayer and beat the crowds out of there.
Been there done that. wife and two young children up at the nose bleed section always walked down the steps before the BIG final talk by some special bethel guy. We got out of dodge with good traffic 1 hour drive home
this elder was a kook he got me to hop freight trains.
there was a ms who worked for the railroad and he gave this elder a print out of the time and engine #.
so early one morning we hopped on the train.

So early one morning we hopped on the train. Took us on the other side of the mountains and we returned the same day. Found out this elder got DFed because he was a pedo.
i'm interested to know the age demographics here.
it must be significantly different to other exjw forums.
it would be a damning report for watchtower if most of us appear to have left for decades.. you don't have to mention your exact age, you could always say "in my 50s".. i am in my 70s.
Woodstock generation for me. My daughter and I walked out in the middle of the public talk in 1995. We left our bibles and our watchtowers on the seat. Our names were on the Bibles and we did not study the watchtower.
good pick?
bad pick?
helpful to president biden?
i haven't seen any jws in years.

what are your memories of hall cleaning?.
i actually enjoyed it on the whole, my dad as the elder always tried to keep it to under one hour but in my later years in a hard-line congregation it was a chore.
the po's wife had a printed list and we had to complete it all before left (or got disapproving looks if we left after an hour).. as well as vacuuming the whole building the lost said you had to dismantle the vacuum and clean and polish all the internal elements.
I remember we cleaned the hall after the memorial. We found the wine and drank it. Man we got whipped by dad
was this ever a requirement?.
When I was In the "truth" we paid 3 cents for the Mags. The little trifold tracks were a 10 count for a penny. (US) . We sold (placed) them for 10 cents for the pair.

When we were kids we had wireless FM radio roving mikes that were on that radio. When we cleaned the hall we tuned it to a heavy rock station.
