Did Jesus REALLY cast demons into swine?
by gumby inthe gospels tell us that on one occasion jesus exorcised a man of demons who called themselves "legion" because there was about..."two thousand of them.
" these demons are cast by jesus into a large herd of pigs, which rush over the edge of a hillside and are drowned.. exactly the motif is found in the rites of the mysteries at eluesis ( about 20-40 miles from greece) as part of the purification ceremony before initiation, some 2 thousand initiates all bathed in the sea with young pigs.
this bathing ritual banished all evil into the pigs, which were then sacraficed, as a symbol of the initiates own impurities, by being chased over a chasm.. these latter rites and performances were long before jesus time.

Hi IT Support,
Welcome to the board.
Other half (was Secretary)found the best way was just to gradually do less and less and plead family commitments. This was about 3 years ago. Dont konw if you could do that.
As CAS said be careful about saying too much on the board especially anything that could reveal your ID if you dont want to be DF.
Take care whatever you do.

Bad marriage and being a JW

being trapped in jw land is a bit like a bad marriage.. when you first get married(baptized) everything is good and happy, the rose coloured glasses effect.. then later on, maybe years down the line, things change or are revealed that alter the contentment of the situation, but by then there is more commitment due maybe to children or shared friends and pastimes so it is difficult if not impossible to extract oneself from it.. to do so risks losing any normal contact with your children, grandchildren and those you thought were your friends.. so many choose to stay in a loveless/violent or broken down marriage (the borg) because the alternative is too awful to cope with.. what other loving religious group controls its members like this and then has the audacity to preach to everyone across the globe that theirs is the true way chosen by god.. anglise

? for those being shunned who have little kids...
by flower inif you have young children and you are shunned by other family members what you have told your children about why?
my son (4) and i need to have a chat soon and i'm really not certain what i am going to say to him.
he loves his auntie and uncle and gramma and he wants to see them.

the trouble with asking the relatives how to explain is that they will most likely come back with "well we can see the children but not you so we are happy to see them on their own" or words to that effect.
Would you really want your JW relatives with unsupervised access to your children. When you say no then it makes it your fault, so have your answers ready if do choose that route.
You could still use the method, but make sure that your child has had some normal fun times first that would be denied by JW's such as a birthday party, fireworks, school friend to tea or similar. Having enjoyed this explain that the relatives cant see us very often because they dont like us going to etc. Then tell the relatives what you have said and done and your childs upset over this.
Maybe the contact could be via the phone and letters for a while just to let the dust settle, and then things might be easier with new ground rules. But I do feel you have to give your children something positive first.
Just a few thoughts. I hope you can sort this out quickly.

they all hung out together.
went to quickbuilds together and ensured that they were the ones with power in the hall.. i remember trying to join the quickbuild team as a 14 year old, only to be asked by the elder in charge of it (and allso in charge of the click), what building qualifications i had!.

Yup saw the same cliques in our area. If you fitted OK if not well you where derided. Same ones used to strut round the Ass halls (ours was Hayesbridge) during the talks looking busy and important and NEVER listening to the items.
Very hard for those who didnt fit and wanted to do the right thing. All goes to prove what an unloving org it really is.

All it would take would be the exposure of the true nature of the WTBTS religion. For example the devasting effects on people due to their various doctrines on child abuse, blood, shunning etc, the true nature of which remain hidden until one is baptized and fully involved.
No it wouldnt fulfill any bible accounts as these require a turning on ALL religions by the wild beast.
I could go on but I dont wish to hijack this very important thread.
