Having a hard time tonight
by onesong init's been 2 months since i was df'd and 4 months since i've talked to anyone in my family.
for the most part i'm doing real well but every now and then it catches up with me.
ran into my dad today and when i tried to say hi he could only ignore me.. i think the pain and hurt i feel now is more for him, he's in his own world of misery and doesn't even know it.. anyway, i'm a little drunk and depressed and just felt like getting it off my chest.. hope this doesn't bring anyone else down.. namaste'

my mother called and asked me for my login info, and was shocked to see me, and around 40 witnesses in my area having active profiles.
contents of these profile ranged from a few pictures to downright self-incrimination.

Do any of us really want the truth?
by Qcmbr ini've been reading some essays concerning disagreement online that got me thinking - i won't even attempt to do them justice but to share some ideas that struck home to me.
we spend most of the time here sharing ideas and thoughts often in response to other posts and as arguements to invalidate or re-colour what someone else said.
there is an implicit drive behind each thread to somehow approximate a 'truth' from the many different viewpoints - almost like a collective conscience ('the forum') weighing and then selecting or rejecting the mood of the thread and as we share in the posts we add just a little weight and influence to its direction.

I really like to see what other people think and the ideas they have. It makes life so much more interesting. Since leaving the JW's it's been fun to sift through all different kinds of ideas and pick and choose which ones I like. It's like...I think I'll have 2 of those Bible verses and 1 of those evolution theories, throw in a few of those anti-cult ideas, and put those out dated sex sermons back on the shelf. I don't know what I'll end up as, but it sure isn't going to be BORING!!!

Nate, if you would bother to READ the link...it's about the SEARCH for Adam...it DIDN'T say they found him. They are going back through family trees to trace ancestors and have found that the Y chromosone can be traced through generations. Of course, there is much more work/study/time needed in order to trace mankind's roots, wherever they lead.

Would you want plastic surgery?
by free2beme init is said that teens are now getting breast implants, tummy tucks and liposuction.
i remember when i was younger, we thought these type of surgeries were done by older woman wanting to stay young looking.
does not seem to be the case anymore and it is getting easier and easier to get done.

Will you let us know when you get there? Would you please ask Him a few questions like:
1. Why does he have us contact (pray) Him, lets say a million times, and never gets back with us?
2. Why did He give us such a controversial letter (Bible) that everyone argues over? It could have been a lot simpler and easier to understand...I know with my kids I leave them very direct lists on what I want done.
3. Has he noticed all the problems going on down here? Who is in charge?????
I hope I can count on you to get back with me after you see Him!!! Please don't let me down, as no one has contacted me and they told me they were going to the same place. I have grandparents and cousins, aunts, uncles, friends....no contact so far...did they forget I was still here???

All Elders Aren't Bad
by sammielee24 ini've read posts from time to time where it is obvious that people have been treated badly by either a jc or by individual elder themselves while in the society.
i can honestly say that in all my years as an elder, i have never seen this side.
most elders that i have known are committed, honest and fair minded men, who believe in what they are doing and have complete and utter faith in the organization.

Jeffro, I am just hoping that more and more elders join and read the information on this forum and/or others. In doing so, they may see threads like this that will get them to thinking about what they can do and their responsibility in doing it. We can only hope that in the future, more will make a stand for what is right and not just go along with the status quo. Whether they live up to their responsibility is yet to be seen. I applaud the ones that are taking steps to help, such as being pro-active in releasing info here, etc., it's a start....

We're all hypocrites!
by free2beme ini firmly believe that if you talk to someone long enough and know someone long enough, you will learn they are a hypocrite.
i don't think anyone can remain on one theme in their life forever and stick with it, as life is just to much about change to allow this and the human experience is about learning and changing.
when i see people quote others and yell the inevitable "hypocrite" comment in their direction.

When I was 3, I loved to take bubble baths...today I still love to take BB's...nothing hypocritical there.
Here's what you listed as definition:
hypocrite : a person who professes beliefs and opinions that he does not hold
The emphasis has to be put on the word "professes", which means that you never really believed, just appeared as if you did. That in my opinion is the hypocritical part...changing your belief system because you find out you have been lied to...well that's just good sense in my book.
