so i'm in service this morning and the young sister i was working with had what they call now a "doorstep bible study" .
its been encouraged by the fds that if one has a regular return visit with an interested one that one can hold a bible study by having them read one or two paragraphs out of the require brochure and ask the questions right at their doorstep.. i've never actually seen it done and boy let me tell you it was the most awkard, ridiculous thing i have ever seen!
the poor sister (who was nothing older thatn 15) is standing at the door having this grown woman read a paragraph out of the require brochure, and after having her ansewring the question and read a scripture she then then tells her she'll see her next week!

barbara has this scheduled for december 20:.

i think she covered just about all beliefs...i have to say that the one that seems the most slanted is the muslim belief...seems it's all about the guys getting 72 virgins...where is the heavenly part for the women?

I really don't know of any guy that could possibly handle 72 women!!! Most other concepts at least give both sexes the same option. It makes me wonder why the Muslim women haven't revolted long before now. JW women need to revolt also!!! The way they are treated in the org now is sickening.

the place is in the wilderness, the thing acting as a restraint is the face of the serpent.. .
how does someone gain access to the actual temple of the god and further yet, how is he able to lift himself up above everyone who is called god?.
god's spirit-directed organisation ---- (the man) ----------------- a god?.
Thanks for sharing that with us. And welcome!

P.S. I am going to print it out so that I can further review it...
note: the catholic molestation cases have mostly been evaluated under employment law theories not the tort of misrepresentation or under non-fraud related tort claims]; fails to address important legal considerations such as standing and statute of limitations; and finally and most importantly, the essay fails to address in any meaningful way the inevitable constitutional arguments that would be raised by opposing (watchtower) counsel.
supreme court justices do not have the time to browse through law journals and the implication that they would be interested in an essay is even more deceptive.
the society does not cite a 1960 study as evidence that blood transfusions are hazardous.. here is the actual quotation in context:.
P.S. To my above post...this guy was an elder and pioneer!!! Don't you just love it? I had a sister working in my office that was writing out checks to herself and hiding it by changing the numbers on the checks and used my Corp Amex to order things for her home. She had successfully stolen about $15,000.00 before we caught it. She was privately reproved...couldn't answer at the meetings for 3 WHOLE months! Wow! We went to same hall and I thought we were good friends. The Elders begged me not to press charges as she agreed to repay the money...I'm still waiting! 10 yrs and waiting!!!

Thank you for that analysis...I know it took a lot of effort and time. That's exactly what the essay needs is legal reviews! I have to agree that most people here on the board don't understand why it's so important to evaluate how this is going to be seen in the legal and court system. I don't see many JW's reading this at all and most of them will just say as they do about everything else that Jehovah will take care of it in time.
In my 20 some odd years in business, there were many times that I thought I had the goods to go to court...I had been wronged, there was no doubt about it...but I would always present the issues to several attorneys and get their input. It saved me a lot of time and heartache and money!!! Let me tell you a SIMPLE issue. I owned and leased out a piece of equipment. I had a contract which stated that if payment wasn't made every 30 days, I could repossess the equipment. That's true...however, when I went to get the equipment, the guy called the Sheriff. The sheriff got there and even though I had the documents, he informed me that I would have to go to court/judge to get the equipment back. Found out in court that I couldn't do anything for 3 months (I had to make the payment myself in the meantime) and then if the person started making the payments I had to allow it. Here's the catch...he used it in his business and I would have taken away his means to make money and I could not immediately do that. I had to spend out money for an attorney, start proceedings, etc. pay all that, plus pay for equipment that I didn't have to use. After the 3 months I got back a worthless piece of junk. I could have gone ahead and spent more money and got a charge against him, but seeing how he didn't have much to go after...what was the point??? SEE how things can go in court???
This is small potatoes compared to the blood issue!!!!!

many of you may not see immediately how important this matter is.
beyond the other legal ramifications, i.e, the wts lying about secular info., intentional deception, etc., the blood issue is a huge one.
Okay, I know some of you will get upset but I think this has to be said here. In the above cases where someone lost a loved one because they refused a blood transfusion, will a dr testify to the fact, that had they had the blood transfusion they would have lived? I can't find a dr that is willing to say that. A blood transfusion is a tool...it does not guarantee life. I'm sure there are posters here who have had loved ones transfused against their will and died. So I would think in order to carry any weight you would have to have drs willing to testify 100% so and so would have lived had they been transfused....What do you think about that? I think a better poll would be to ask about children, as adults are free to make their own medical decisions.

P.S. At one time when my husband's hemoglobin was down to 3, the drs tried to get me to sign paperwork to override his...I asked them, if I did so and he recieved the transfusion, would they guarantee me that it would save his life....they said no. (His hemoglobin in that case came back up and he got better....)

Skeeter1...so sorry to hear about your losses...
As I posted on another thread, my husband refused a blood transfusion and died. He was a mature adult and made that decision on his own. Even now, knowing what I do about the misrespresentations over the medical issues, I'm pretty sure he would have stuck with the Bible mandate (that he perceived). Just because everyone doesn't tell their story doesn't mean they don't have one.
Recently, my 80 yr old father had stomach cancer. They had to remove 1/2 of his stomach, gall-bladder, etc. and he is diabetic. He started bleeding and the doctors came in and told us all to go say our final good-byes. The drs. got in there and got the bleeding stopped and he has had a full recovery. The drs. are soooooo impressed with his comeback and think it has to do with his NOT taking blood. He has made a full recovery and going strong. My dad has faded and doesn't believe the witness teachings...but still holds out that he will not accept a blood transfusion. What hit me so hard was this 80 yr old man could pull out of that and my 45 yr old husband couldn't. Not that I want anyone to die....it's just kind of strange.
As much as I know that you would like to stop the JW's from preaching their wrongful blood doctine, I think we need to see what the legal community thinks about this essay and the merits of it. Just because we want it to work out a certain way doesn't mean that it will. Eduardo, IMO is playing devil's advocate here...and guess what? It will get a lot uglier in a courtroom!!!
I don't know how much experience you have had with legal problems and seeing the legal process at work in a courtroom, but that is a whole other world. You have to have your i's dotted and your t's crossed or they tear you apart as if in a lion's den. You can go in there with truth on your side and come out looking like a complete fool. Do you want someone to tell you that it's going to bring the WTS down and then find out that no court will even hear it? I don't like it any more than you do, but I am willing to listen to the opposing arguments that will be used by the WTS. The WTS has gone to the Supreme Court a number of times and WON on different issues...don't underestimate them.
Look how they are still winning some landmark cases in the child abuse area. I only hope that one of them will soon turn the tables!!! I think that we are all on the same side, but coming from a different perspective. Name calling doesn't help the cause and I hope that we can all get back to civil discussions without attacking one another.
