I think that sometimes, praying is a way that people can hear themselves talk....

I had bros over for dinner years back, and we sit to eat and get interupted by wifey saying we had to pray. She did with the kids, while us dudes looked around. Later, I asked her what that was all about. She said it was important. I said bullshit, it was showey. Her god would know she prayed if it was silent, as it shoulda been... if he was all knowing.

Hasnt happened again.

a brother was on the program for the saturday afternoon session as one of those "life experiences" interviews.

tells the tale about how he left a lucrative, well paying position to "help where the need was greater.

" moved from a major metropolitan area to a congregation in the rurals, was told by managers that the job he was going to was "a dead end".

I remember "model families" being interviewed that were complete wrecks, but they were paraded around as role models for everyone else to follow.

That was us.... model family held up for all to see, at Yankee Stadium. I ran away again shortly after that. It was all BS.

Do you have all the friends you want to have?

i'm not talking about internet friends, but friends close by in your town.. so, do you have as many friends as you would like to have?.

when i was young and going to school, i had a few friends, but now i don't have any friends, but on the other hand, i'm a loner and i don't really care.

i'm not really searching for friends.

Hello John, long time.

To answer this, one would have to define "friend". I have always had a bunch of aquaintences, but always limited those that would hold a place as friend, or best friend. Within the biker world, I had many people refering to me or us as "brothers", but they too are aquaintences.

A friend is one that you trust with your life, your money, and your woman.... and visa versa. I only had a few of those in my life, and wouldnt want many at the same time. 1 will do, and that I have.

I dont see a spouse as a best friend, they are something different. A friend doesnt let emotions dictate anything as a friend, at least with guys.

So yes John, I have all the "friends" I need. I can never have enuff buddies tho.

if we cut out all the crap, the jehovah's witness religion kills people through their 'blood' policy.

people die from following it.. therefore i am ashamed to say that i was part of it for so long.

i used to say, as many who are still in still do, that it's not a bad way of life.. yes it is.

Hopefully, I will explain my thoughts without pissing half of you off.

First tho, I also had a massive tumor on my thyroid and I am ok... since 1898. I didnt have a transfusion, altho I would have ok'd it.

Now, as for the theme of this thread... I personally divide the JW active people into 2 groups or divisions.... those born into it (forced) and those that join as adults(volentary). My ramblings here and now do NOT refer to those born in, since they had no choice.

The JWs have this uncanny ability to attract those with weeknesses, addictions, plainly issues. Those of you that joined as adults, how many of you drank lots, did drugs, had low esteen, were codependent, had no goals in life? You may not have known then, but looking back now, was there something wrong before that first knock at the door?

Once in, the JWs feed those same needs and issues. They offer the iron handed disipline that you may have lacked in your life, or your inability to make a clear decision on things, or maybe it was just the fact that while a JW you couldnt, and thus didnt, drink a lot or indulge in whatever you were doing before. Maybe you had mental issues that made you "different" than most others around you, so being in an org where everyone is looked at differently was an attraction.

That is how they manage to suck people in, and keep them in. The same needs, or weaknesses, that got you in will keep you in. Until you work thru your personal issues or problems, you will just keep falling into the same holes and traps that works for the JWs.

My mother was like that... when not in, she was banging anyone with a pole and drinking.... while in, she was a judgemental dogmatic bitch. I watched her bounce back and forth all my young life. Her friends were the same, pretty much.

We discussed this somewhat yesterday when PEC was here, I decided to try and put it to written word at that time..

JW Atttitude toward Illegal Immigrants

i have a jw friend that is letting an illegal immigrant live with him.

the brothers in his hall know his status (i wouldn't be surprised if half of them were illegal as well) but mention nothing about "obeying caesar's laws.

anybody else ever notice this?
