  How do you sleep?

  It is not really easy to wake me, but if I am awakened, it is hard to fall asleep again.

  Yes, I am very happy about who I am, although, next week I have to stop being me and become Elvis for two nights. Elvis week drives Mary crazy and makes me all shook up.

  Update after talking to family services.

  i rang family services this afternoon.. the woman i spoke to was very helpful and honest.. firstly i told her i had rung because the person that abused my child had been seen by me pushing a toddler in a pram and by a friend of mine tickling and touching children at the meetings.

  i expressed how fearful i am for the children in the congo.. she wanted the pedos name, my name, my kid's name etc.

  she asked what he did to my kid and when i told her she said he was an abuser..........no kidding!

  Forgive me, but you seem very new to the forum and I am assuming that Bliss might not know who you are. If you two know eachother, then forget my comment. But if she does not know you, I did not see how you would be able to do anything more than what she has done, even with your socalled contacts in and out of the congregation. My cautionary statement was in reference to her giving out specific information to a stranger . . . if you are one.

  Do you believe in "same sex" marriage?

  yesterday i tuned into espn sports radio and listened to a semi-political debate on several issues.

  when "same sex" marriage came up one of the talking heads refrained that "all marriages are same sex.

  " you get married and have the "same sex" over and over again!

  uh huh . . . and a judgement. The love of Jonathan to David was sweeter than the love of a woman. What exactly can that mean to a hetrosexual male?????
  

  Let them get married, let them divorce. Hetros have been doing it for centuries. I do not judge or question when a man loves another man, is committed to him, and the same for two women. I have seen evidence that some same sex couples exibit more real love than hetro couples. Who am I to judge. I married a woman, but that was my choice. If I had have married a man instead, still my choice . . . my life. I would still have the same friends and family . . . the same love and acceptance from them. And according to your opinion, God would love me just as much as he does you.

  By the way, tell us please why gay sex is wrong?

  Never saw anything like that, and I am wondering why a worldly woman would marry a jw because he had status in the congregation as an elder. Does not make sense to me. Perhaps if the elder of PO had lots of money . . . I can see it then.

  ) discouraged, have any of you known persons of higher education to be in the organization, either by completing it while in or became jw afterwards?

  I have not read anyone else's posts on this topic, but here is my experience.

  When my mother died in 1990, we went to a JW attourney, Brother B, figuring he would be decent and honest and deal with the insurance companies for us brothers and in our best interests . . . keeping everything theocratic. I could have gotten the desired result myself with the insurance company, but I was only 23 and did not know how to deal with an insurance claim. I thought I needed help.

  He had us come in for a consultation and after asking a few questions about our mother's estate and the insurance company, and after reading the policy, he told me that the entire case could be resolved with a mere couple of phone calls and all he would charge me was his normal rate of 250.00 per hour. I agreed, and it was a verbal agreement, albiet, but he was a brother, an elder, and his word was his bond and I would not question his reasonable attitude.

  A couple weeks later, his secretary called me to tell me that payment had been made by the insurance company and the check was sitting on brother B's desk. She said I could come in and pick it up at my convenience.

  I arrived an hour later and sat in his office once again. He handed me the check, a payment from the insurance company for $15,000.00. Then he asked me to sign it over to him and he would cut me a check from his account for 2/3 of the amount. I said, "you're taking a third of the insurance money?"

  "Yes", he replied matter of factly.

  "Brother B", I began, "While I understand that is customary for a lawyer to take 1/3 of a settlement or for an insurance claim payment, you told me that you only needed to make a couple of phone calls to resolve things and you would be charging me 250. per hour for your services. May I see a statement for the time you spent on this case?"

  He got very red-faced and ordered me out of his office. I asked him once again to please charge me for his services according to our agreement, but he was so pissed, that he ordered me out once again. I took my check for the entire amount of 15,000.00 and walked out of his office feeling confused and disoriented.

  Driving home it hit me like a ton of bricks that this JW attourney was an sob and a crook and he just tried to screw me over . . . tried to slip one over on me. What an eye-opener.

  my husband went to take our dog out for his nightly walk last night and as they were headed down the staircase (dark) there was something flipping around.

  both my husband and dog ran back upstairs.

  we both peeked around the corner and shined a flashlight on it.
