stuck in!
by red so deep inwell, this is my first post here, and i'm kind of doing it in secret, cause i know if my parents knew of my "poisoning myself with apostates" they would not be happy at all.
anyways, my story is; i'm 17, i've been brought up "in the truth" my whole life, and now i'm starting to question the wt and christianity in general, and i have nobody to talk to about it.
i feel awkward about talking to my witness friends about it, cause i worry that if i speak out against the organazition and the wrong people (i.e; young ones around here that would never think of questioning the society) hear about it, it might result in my punishment (reproof or dfing).

Welcome.
You certainly do not read much like a typical 17 year old in (or out) of the organization. Your language is very mature. Wow! You must be some kind of prodigy to articulate matters the way you do.
Anyway, you have come to the right place for support, research and understanding. We have the garden variety apostates here who can help bring you to full maturity with regard to your defection. It will not be easy for you, as if it hasn't already been, but we are here to help. I have five teens, three of which were raised in the org like you, none of them baptized however. They are out of the org now eventhough their JW mother and step dad are constantly on their arses to go to the meetings. Seeing as how they live with me now, the don't have to go.
Hope you find the answers and help you are looking for here at JWD.
Best Regards,
Corvin

Questions For Jehovah's Witnesses Regarding Doctrine
by Corvin inrecently, xlaurax asked for some good questions to ask jw's when they come to visit.
the following is taken from ray franz's book, crisis of conscience, pages 330 and 331. these are very good questions and should do the job nicely.. .
what plain statement in scripture could anyone, governing body member or anyone else, point to and say, "here, the bible clearly says":.

Recently, xlaurax asked for some good questions to ask JW's when they come to visit. The following is taken from Ray Franz's book, Crisis of Conscience, pages 330 and 331. These are very good questions and should do the job nicely.
What plain statement in Scripture could anyone, Governing Body member or anyone else, point to and say, "Here, the Bible clearly says":
1. That God has an "organization" on earth?one of the kind here at issue? and uses a Governing Body to direct it?
Where does the Bible make such statements?2. That the heavenly hope is not open to anyone and everyone who will embrace it, that it has been replaced by an earthly hope (since 1935) and that Christ's words in connection with the emblematic bread and wine, "Do this in remembrance of me," do not apply to all persons putting faith in his ransom sacrifice?
What scriptures make such statements?3. That the "faithful and discreet slave" is a "class" composed of only certain Christians, that it cannot apply to individuals, and that it operates through a Governing Body?
Again, where does the Bible make such statements?4. That Christians are separated into two classes, with a different relation- ship to God and Christ, on the basis of an earthly or a heavenly destiny?
Where is this said?5. That the 144,000 in Revelation must be taken as a literal number and that the "great crowd" does not and cannot refer to persons serving in God's heavenly courts?
Where do we find those statements in the Bible?6. That the "last days" began in 1914, and that when the apostle Peter (at Acts 2:17) spoke of the last days as applying from Pentecost on, he did not mean the same "last days" that Paul did (at 2 Timothy 3:1)?
Where ?7. That the calendar year of 1914 was the time when Christ was first officially enthroned as King toward all the earth and that that calendar date marks the start of his parousia?
Where?8. That when the Bible at Hebrews 11:16 says that men such as Abraham, Isaac and Jacob were "reaching out for a better place, that is, one belonging to heaven," this could not possibly mean that they would have heavenly life?
Where? Not a single Society teaching here could be supported by any plain direct statement of Scripture. Every single one would require intricate explanations, complex combinations of texts and, in some cases, what amounts to mental gymnastics, in an attempt to support them. Yet these were/are used to judge people's Christianity, set forth as the basis for deciding whether persons who had poured out their lives in service to God were apostates!
Franz brings out another great point when he says, . . . the most serious aspect (is) the way an array of organizational teachings were/are used as a standard against which to evaluate plain statemens in the Bible, and that those plain statements (because they do not comform to the organizational "pattern" of interpretation) were/are depicted as distorted teachings giving evidence of "apostasy".
Hope this helps,

What does that hand gesture mean?
by Elsewhere in.
sometimes i see people make certain hand gestures when they are excited or happy about something... things like these:.
-elsewhere, of the geek class.. .
-
Corvin
Actaully, the "hang loose" gesture originated in the North Shore; it's Hawaiian.
The second one looks like the symbol for the horned owl.
Everyone knows GW is a member of the Illuminati . . . here is the proof.

Terry, great stuff. I listened to all the songs Randy uploaded onto his site and I loved all of them. Your music reminds me of the tunes my cousin, Matt, writes. We are Hungarians and have a touch of the dark soul, too.
The WTBTS should have had you write their Kingdom Song (tm)
Keep up the great work!

QUIET signs at assemblies
by Jez inlol...this one kills me.
again this year brothers had to walk the halls carrying signs that said "quiet please" everyone just ignores these poor embarrassed brothers.
the assemblay is going on and yet the halls are full of ppl walking, visiting, cruisin'.

Jez, didn't you know that those cruisin' the halls are not just bored, but they are "spiritually weak and immature"? They are there as Satan's tools to test and destract those with godly devotion from partaking of the fine spiritual banquet the F&DS has provided through Jehovah.

WHO IS RESPONSIBLE? Are you?
by Terry inmethinks i pushed the topic button a wee tad too early!
here is what i meant to say.
if nobody else is responsible, then, are you?
-
Corvin
I was born a victim to the cult. That was not my fault. I was raised to believe the lies; I was a victim. It was not my fault. I was cheated of an education, good relationships with friends and family; I was a victim. It was not my fault.
I grew to the age of accountability while still under the influence of the organization. I was pressured into baptism and devoted my life to it. Because of my circumstances, I could not have known any better; I was a victim.
I broke the rules one day, started smoking, and got df'd. That WAS my fault, I was responsible. I left the organization of Jehovah's Witnesses for good and oppose it with all my heart. I am no longer a victim, and I am responsible.

Thank those who helped you out of the Org
by Nosferatu inhere's a thread for all of you to thank those who helped you make your way out of the org.
i'll start.. i'd like to thank my ex-fiance for the support that she had given me when i needed it the most.
when i was faced with the elders coming to give me a shepharding call, she had given me the encouragement to stand up to them, and tell them truly how i felt.

Thanks to Dan Brown who got me searching the internet, to Derrick Barefoot for taking a stand, to Dave Malone who challenged me and got me thinking, to Simon for this forum and introducing me to such constant support and all of you folks, to Randy Watters for The Bethel Chronicals and Ray Franz for Crisis of Conscience. To Jerry Hulse (The Colonel) for always asking questions but never pushing, to Mary Corvin for letting me learn on my own without judging and prodding and to Elvis Presley for the way he sings gospel songs.
Thank God!

I did it!!
by Scully ini finally gave all my meeting clothes the heave-ho!!
i've been on a closet cleaning binge and finally decided it was time to donate all of these old things to a local women's shelter.
i figured some of these ladies may have nothing decent to wear if they need to go job hunting, so my old meeting clothes, shoes, and handbags would at least serve a noble purpose in their recycled lifetimes.. for some reason, i hung on to them for the last several years, knowing full-well that i would never set foot in a kingdom hall ever again.

How long did it take you to relieve yourself of your Kingdom Hall wardrobe? Were there any items that you kept? How much closet space did you gain from getting rid of all those extra meeting clothes?
I now only have a shirt, tie and jacket just in case I need them (definitely not for the meetings). I do not ever want to wear a stinking tie again as long as I live. I own a couple of tuxedos and a butt-load of comfy clothes like jeans and t-shirts. I work in jeans, boots and casual-dress shirts. My closet is still full, but full of clothes I love, not Sunday-goin'-to-meetin' clothes.
