4 year old pushes religion on my kid...

so this kid at my kids preschool apparently had a goldfish named peppe who died over the weekend.

for the past 4 days he has been telling my son repeatedly that the fish is in heaven where everyone goes when they die unless they are bad.

my son in turn has been questioning me on a daily basis about death and dying and the like.

I think it is OK to say "some people believe X, some believe X.... I don't know which is right" Allowing them to accept that they don't have to have "THE" right answer... and that what people believe are "theories" for lack of a better word... will give them the power to use their own discernment and mind to calculate and draw their own conclusions. I don't think you have to give them "the right" answer... you know what I mean?

My motto is to be honest, and give a lot of information- while it may be annoying to have other beliefs pushed on your child, it is a great exercise of tolerance for them.

Memorial Experience

at my congregation's memorial, i saw two things i have never seen before.. 1. since jesus said a prayer "over the bread and wine", the elders who gave the prayers just before passing the utensils took the microphone out of the podium, walked over to the table, and said the prayer "over the bread and wine.

" never saw this before in over 30 years of attendance.. .

2. one elder, probably the most knowledgable, been a witness since he was a kid in the fifties, was wearing a lapel pin on his jacket, very small, looked like a black button.

The table of emblems was on the stage, adn the prayer was said quite near them at our memorial.

The one thing I found interesting was that the elder said something along the lines of "the majority of those chosen for this heavenly calling were chosen then" referring to the years soon after Jesus died. And that "only a remnant were chosen in our day" which I found odd because there were nearly 144,000 JW's chosen in the early years of the organization.

I rolled my eyes a lot, and just played with the kids and made them smile.

Pharmacy Refuses To Fill Birth Contol Pills-Do They Have That Right?

yesterday, a pharmacy cvc, refused to fill a script for birth control pills.

the customer was btw, a married woman with 2 kids.

the pharmicist aparently did not believe in birth control, so refused to fill the script.

I want to add that I think tolerance is great, and ideal... but there is a line between your own rights and infringing on the rights of others.

It underminds the patients intelligience to suggest that he must refuse to fill it for her- is she not capable of making an informed decision of her own? What next, Mountain Dew and nutra sweet?

Often times the pill is prescribed for hormone regulation, and estrogen or progesterone dominence can also be cancer causing. By refusing he is by implication saying he is a better judge of what is right for her than her Doctor or herself.

Now, maybe he does have a legal right to do so. But others then have the legal right to go elsewhere for the RX.

I think what bugs me the most is that those pills come prepackaged. All he had to do was put the dial in a bag and hand it to the customer service rep. Technically even the CSR should have been able to assemble that prescription without issue. So was he trying to make a statement?

As a nanny I was often asked to do religious and holiday things. I did them, I figured it was my job and I was being paid for it. I accepted my XMas bonus each year, how annoying would it have been for me to say "sorry, I can't take your kid to get their picture with Santa... oh, is that my XMas bonus???" Work is work... worship is worship. Now if they asked ME to get my picture taken with Santa.. then I would have drawn the line.

i think i should do something to remember jesus and his faithfulness to the human family.

i don't know if i should drink the wine and eat the bread or not.

i am only fifty, but something has moved me to this hope for about twenty years.

i presented that document to an elder from our hall... he called and told me exactly what i expected they would say (library card deal).

so i wrote the un and got a letter back saying they were totally seperate and so forth, and fwd'd it to the same elder.

he told me at the meeting that night that he called again and got in touch with someone who knew something.

Anyone know where I can get scans of the W & A they apparently used to promote UN ideals? Just curious :)

I don't really feel like pursuing it with joe elder... but I have thought about sending all the information to a few dear friends.

Help with a scripture...

there is a scripture, i think in acts, that specifically says not to go from door to door.

i wanted to compare the greek words used there to the ones in other parts of acts that probably should be written "in private homes" that they use to "validify" the preaching work.

i can't for the life of me find where i wrote that scripture down at though... anyone know it off hand?.

yes, I knew it was bull. I was just suprised at the ability to glaze over the details so easily. What made me angry though was on the way home I said to DH casually "Well, either the society or the UN is lying to me" and DH got irritable for my implied "assumption"

DH is up for a promotion at work... I don't have the heart to disrupt his life while he is stressed over that, but once he gets it (I have no doubts ) I'm going to leave them for real. I just can't deal with this craziness forever. Plus I'm ready to move on.

I had all these visions of "enlightening" everyone I cared about and leaving together. lol. I have come to realize I'll just be glad to get myself and my kids out :)

I forgot to add that I told him that it was explained to me that the WTS had to submit financial reports and pro-UN articles, so I wasn't sure how they could "not know" and he kind of shrugged and said "well, that is what is going on... so there you have it" and ended the conversation.
