by minimus inyesterday, a business associate asked me why jws would not celebrate a birthday, a bar mitzvah, or any other holiday.
he asked why they literally believed only 144,000 go to heaven.
he asked how they could celebrate everything 1 year and the next year, tell their families that everything is pagan........my answer to all of his questions, were "it's because they're a cult.

Some people unfortunately think turning your brain off being deliberately stupid for a god is a worthwhile gambit. Yeah actually it is the people you don't like walking in the door are always the placeholder hypothetical people you imagine. Face it I think certain people like shunning in general more than DFing some treat anyone that is not a elder or pioneer like they are DFed. I think it is the hall monitor mentality/ hypocrites (in the local hall not the org in general) that drives otherwise complacent witnesses away.
My grandfather is getting old he is a PO we were talking about the bannings. He said "I hope that the friends don't start interpeting this to mean the end is coming. We have been in the last since 1914..." I think he was trying to break it to me that he didn't think the end was going to come in his lifetime, and for the sake of the rest of the world it shouldn't. I wonder how many JWs don't think the end is close, but are on red alert anyway because of Jesus own words? Considering the watchtower its self set an main strean indefinite time span finally. Whats the verdict the world will end science tells us it will, but what is it is 10000 years from now for the human race? The WTS will be right and extinct with us.

Yeah but in general cult followers are like metaphysical venture capitalist, and leaders cutting edge R&D firms. Every now and then the investment on both sides pays off. Imagine if you were an apostle, heck imagine if you were Jesus! Who?s laughing now *****? So who cares if it is a cult now it will die, isolate, or grow painfully into an actual ?religion?. BTW I think the watchtower is catching up to the depravity of its adherents I mean look at the article on ?sodomy?, a term they used to brandish around wildly, now people have no idea what married people ?should? do an effective don?t ask don?t tell for parties involved.
I think JWs are not a cult anymore IMO. Too many people! The "code of conduct" has been broken since the 90's for this generation of JWs. If they stopped DFing people the numbers would swell insanely. Sam Herd made a Joke at an assembly I remember well about how GB could make several changes if they wanted more money or members. He read off a laundry list of at least five of the top ten grievances against the WTS/JWs, but said if they did that they would just be another church (interesting psychology).
I think another thread was on about how fast you could get reinstated if you wanted to. I think people that use spiritual lay-away. Love the "cultishness" especially young women because they have no "privileges" to loose, and the statistical lack of young males(who flee the nest as soon as the get a job at Mcdonnald?s). They come in devote a few paltry years of their lives being a pioneer then leave for college (or a warm bed) **** around and drag a string of kids, boozer husband, or both into the hall 3 to 5 years later because "their lives were better as a witness so it must be the truth". Rinse Wash Repeat. You guys know what I am talking about.
SO if you say its a cult say its a cult for people that feel self denial, and subservience will balance out past or future transgressions, sort of like the Catholics used to be before they got all forgiving. They'll get a better idea, and you wont feel like they think you are a victim more like you grew up.

I was not saying there is not strong proof of Christianity. There is absolute proof. I mean objectively there is no "proof" of Jesus. Religion aside Jesus was the Jewish everyman for blue collar Jews that lost faith in their religion. Objectively who knows how much of it was made up. Also to "cover up" the fact that there was no proof faith was invented. Then the entire OT was retroscoped with faith inserted. So patriarchs that had no faith (Noah for example) became "faithful". Lack of faith was demonized and considered a Semitic trait. This is all objective reasoning of coarse. I can't tell if this is what is meant by the "deeper things", but anyone that knows how to write a screen play could have written a book of the bible. In many cases God is reduced to superman or Lex Luther depending on the chapter.
By the way one thing that I would like to ask every here is so anyone find the bible umm "childsplay". People make a big deal about it. After being a JW and having everyone question the watchtower in service then when you look up the view they want you to believe you find objective that?s another "false teaching" that some other cult made up with out any proof. You are back to square one after a google search. It seems like the bible is so simple there is a God he owns you.
Since I came here I want to do more for the watchtower. Finish college get a fat job and donate huge sums of ill gotten gain. Why? Because it is a pimp concept! There should be more people that want to take over the world nonviolently by using auto indoctrination. Entire governments should pick this stuff up. It is a ready-made template for social reform.
