i'm thinking through my new position on blood transfusions, and would appreciate your 'pearls of wisdom.

i now feel that, while a blood transfusion is still dangerous, i would accept it as a last resort, if all else failed.

i would not die, or allow any of my family to die, for want of a transfusion of plasma, platelets, or red or white cells.

Blondie they changes the stance on "stored" blood when they allowed you to store your blood to be medicated and then put back inside your body. This is not the same as cell salvage. This would be withdrawing a quantity of blood then taking it to a lab have medication (such as an isotopic tracer) mixed with it and have it transfused back into you. Also another conflict that is freaky weird is that JWs allow bone marrow transplants. Go figure.

In practice a JW could have their blood stored before surgery impregnated with antibiotics and recive the whole quatity of their blood during the surgery (their was a breif oversite that allowed a normal autologous tranfusion a few years ago but the quickly patched it). THere is a larger problem with JWs not understanding the watchtower policy than the policy being too strict (at least now days).

It is a part 2 to my "what makes a cult a 'cult'?" thread. So what would it take to trun the marines for example from a military cult to a mainstream religion. I hope vets chip in I would like to get the ball rolling before i chime in. People always say what the watchtower should do, but i think we have bigger fish to fry then a serial pulp publisher and real estate mogul.

Not to correct blondie but I believe the stance of blood needing to be poured out is a sun set belief simular to the 42k years of creation.

Another belief that parallels is the belief that a fraction shoundn't be used if it replicates the "life saving function" of a "primary" component.

These beliefs are now defunct since june the NY brance decided to allow all fractions of any type or combo there of (they caught a hail storm of flack from the branches that held the former beliefs and didnot allow fractions). As well as issuing a gag order on the elder body, and service desk.

As far as fraction biohazards think of it as drinking urine (no offense). Urine is a blood fraction. Fresh urine is sterile in a healthy person and no harm is done if you temporarilly ingest it. Now if the urine is allowed to set that is a really bad idea to drink it. Not only is it repugnant, but the ambient bacteria will turn it into a septic brew quickly because it contains lots of raw protiens (hence the classic gas station restroom smell). Likewise with other fractions they are not as stable a whole components (excluding plasma based ones) and provide raw food for almost anything fortunate to come into contact with them.

Yes they are safer. Pretty much "Fractions" are cooked and differented blood thats been washed in detergent.

They mostly have no blood type and are universal (you could add a blood type to them but thats the medical equivalent of painting a concours d'élégance Delorean ).

iN all reality the watchtower did the theolgical equivalent of the "94 Assault Weapon Ban". Making a long compicated system that bans complete guns with 4/4 regulated devices but allows you to buy separately what ever is missing from a gun 3/4 of these devices (I know it is not that gun termy).

So you can basically have blood with out having blood. Which is stupid. I have never been a person for paper tigers. Especially if I am bleeding to death from its paper cuts.

JG i have always compared the WTS to national geographic (they were founded around the same time). Oddlt with this whole magazine shamelessly advertising their holyland mapware I find it way to coincedental. In 50 years the WTS may be the next rand mcnally. I can see it now.

when does a high control group cross the line bettween being socially acceptable to being a "cult"?.

why do the marines or dod or cia earn special pleading to exempt them from being a "cult" when they seem to have most of the signs of being a cult.

is it simply the notion that theoretically they should be protecting our interest.

I'LL try to look it up.

As far as recruiters since I and my sister is in their target demo we get called all the time. They are very dishonest, and seem to be at parity with jws. While you could say "its the military duh you know what they are about" that could be said about any group. Also they tailor the pitches to your demo.

My sister gets called and the lady talks to her about rebuilding schools, infastructure, and clean water in Iraq. My sister replied comicaly "they would not need to rebuild it if you guys did not blow it up. How come compton high does have text books and they are building schools for iraqi kids?". I get the be all you can be army of one crap. Since I am disabled I found it odd at how cold they turn. They treat me like I am a leper. All of a sudden I went from an inheirently superior male specimen to trash fish to be thrown back. In plain verbage if you are not a patriot they basically lie or bribe you to join.

I am sure the closer you get to enlistment (baptism) the more "truth" you learn. Once you are in, and commited the whole nature is revealed and many people crack. The yelling, gore, dehumanization (of your self or the enemy), etc is not a pitch the recruiters use. Thats the same system cults use except the military has a shorter hang time between false hopes and cold truth. So while you can learn about the true nature of the military in a day, it may take months to learn about a cult.

Also note you sign your self to the military all at once and instantly become theirs 24-7. Cults can't do this. They are not popular enough to have people walk off the street into their arms. If you compound the time spent (I believe the JWs estimate 250 return visite/ meetings before a person is baptized) They seem to follow a simular arc. If you use human psychology care taking/ tactile simulation builds trust. Eating, sleeping, team bonding, and grooming is almost important in the military as combat skills. The constant touching that they require during training builds more trust. The sleep depo that they mandate also eases suceptablity to suggestion. So the military probally uses the most advanced cult tactics than any modern cult.

Maybe the reason the military is able to exist as a dangerous cult is because they are so good at it the victims actually believe their programming; that despite all the evil dealt by a military complexe the military is a possitive force. There may be no need for a standing army and simple home guard may be all we need to be relatively secure.

Cult Warning Signs

NO OFFENSE TO REPUBLICANS (i really mean it) ,but when i took the questions and awnsered them according to G.W. Bush'es record he seems to be an "unsafe group/leader". While his office may not be personally responsible for every fowl up he is responsible because he argueably instigated many of them. So does the concept of a finite term limit ease peoples mind that he is a bad leader? I am not trying to get in a red blue debate. I am simply trying to figure out where does the line in the sand lay.

I think the line issome type of peer pressure. Many groups dont have the "always on" persona. They have the concept that they only exist for a finite time frame. So one day you will get out of the army, one day a better leader willcome, etc. Many cults are infinite absolutist. THey never have the concept of completing a term or realistically attainable goal.

Ez3 the problem is why is one dangerous cult good and another dangerous cult bad.

As far as medical treatment you loose the ability to refuse treatment when you enlist. A few army guys I know got sick from some anti bioweapon injection they could not refuse it since it was not their choice anymore.It was a minor annoyance and they recovered, but theoretically the military could prescribe any treatment with out reprisal.

The thing is all things created equal I would like to know how do people rationalize it is perfectly okay for on cult to exist and even kill people (accidentally or not). While a smaller more inert cult does not even come close to scale, funding, harm, or objective and yet it is something that should be disbanded.

This has nothing to do with being pacifist btw just trying to gauge how people seem rationalize unfairly, but I may be wrong.
