JW's and interracial marriage?
by c.dawn inmy nephew a jw who is white is dating another jw who is black with the intent to announce their engagement soon.. i had been reading about the past history of the jw's opinion of the black race.
old writings that said they were gods people too, but not intelligent as white etc and not qualified intellectually to go door to door to teach etc.that all people would be white in the new system.. i had read of a rope being run down the pews of the fellowship halls to separate the races during services during the 50's early 60's at the halls that did allow intergrated services... this was supposed to have taken place even up to a few years after de-segregation in the schools and other public places took effect.. that in some areas they had their own hall to meet at and the whites had theirs.
at one point the members of the black hall had asked to meet at the white hall as their building was being repaired or soemthing and they were told no, that some of the members of the white hall wouldn't understand or approve.. and i read that even up into the late 90's, many black members still weren't being given postions or responsibilities that whites had held since the beginning of the jw's.. i was just wondering how far they've come along to improve this image and if anyone knows thier opinion of interracial marriages.

My mom grew up in the south were segregation was law. The JW there were not allowed to have integrated halls. According to her they would have a brother watch for the police and if the cops came up he would signal the every one to make sure the blacks and whites were pooperly divided. It was like musical chairs according to her. I dont know if they were ever fined for being integrated. They were segregated according to her to keep the police from beating up the black brothers. Not because the JWs white were racist. Most halls were glad to get rid of segregation. Back then the racial tension mixed with being a small eccentric upstart religion really brought the heat on it was almost like the situation in russia. So the brothers she claimed had all kinds of schemes to appear more segregated than they were.
And to tell the truth the JW marriage situation is so desprate because there are less JW men than women. If you are a man it is prefered you marry someone from your own hall and you can marry who ever you want as long as she is not the "new sister". The next criteria if you marry outside your hall is some one your own race, area, and age (hispanic does not count as a "race" here because many almost 50% of californias are hispanic). The reason is it is seen as depriving the sisters of your race, area, and age of a 'elligible' marriage mate. Of coarse none of this matters on how people think of your realationship it just keep you out of gossip like...
"Did you hear Brother Local Blackman married Sister Young Asian from the Other Circuit?"
"Really I thought he was going to marry Sister african Queen they have been close friends for years."
"Yeah so did Sister African Queen. You know they dated? I heard Sister Young Asian just got baptize last assembly, and she is like 10 years younger than him too"
"Figures.I wonder what the elders thought about that?"
"He told the elders he was never formaly engaged sister African Queen."

Actually God made a bet with satan. If Jehovah did not have a gambling problem and high self esteem, Job would have never suffered.

Didnt Jwism believe half that stuf until the 50's. Remeber the watchtower believes that doctrine is not important as long as you are "in association with God's spirit directed organization."

EVIL LOUTION? Why do you still resist? Science doesn't work?
by Terry ini resisted it for years.
i was dragged kicking and screaming into the evolution theory camp.. i would rather have had my arm lopped off at the elbow;but, facts are facts.
i had to be intellectually honest.

I dont really believe in creation or evolution. Both are flawed.I just accept them as what some people say they think happend.
As for genesis, and noah the bible proves a global flood did not happen. Also the creation account in genesis conflicts with its self. I think the falacy about god being a creator is that people assume god is loving and that he knows what he is doing. If you take those assumptions away then creation looks close to evolution.

nope. but i dont think it is a manditory dfing offense. I believe it is the kind where they take your "privilages". Considering that is not much of a threat i wonder why more jws dont do martial arts.

You are EX-JWs because you want to live an immoral life!
by Sirona inmany jehovah's witnesses believe what they've been told about ex-witnesses.
they say that exjws simply want to live an immoral life.
they say that exjws cannot live up to "jehovah's standards".

Not to work anything up, but it seem most of you engaged in things that could get you dfed if the elders found out, and this was after you stoped believing JWs. At least in my area I think the stigma is you stop wanting to be a jw and then "jehovah's spiritual protection" leaves you, and you become worse that a wordly person. I tend to find this true. With out the peer pressure to conform to a group like jws some people that would want to be associated with a high control group will loose their group dependant moral compass.
It is hard being a JW guys can you give the few of us that know the whole story, and still like it here a little slack. I mean all of us cant be religious wackos, some one has to be a normal person and a JW. Otherwise some fool will start mixing the speacial kool-aid to catch jehovah's celestial chariot.

Who counts as a 'Believer'?
by BluesBrother inthis struck me as new departure in the july 1st watchtower - "questions from readers - " at 2 corinthians 6.14 to whom is paul referring when he uses the term 'unbelievers'?.
compare this with - .
*** w89 11/1 p. 19 do not yoke yourselves with unbelievers ***.

Anyone notice they assume the other person is a pagan or has no religion such as unbaptised(in any denomination) JW youth. Marry in the lord applies to all christians. It funny because it seems they make it sound like the person in question is a hindu or something that just got studying and falls in love with a sister.

THe reason is from 1995 sheep goat. The great crowd means baptized JWs is "old light". So they are trying to make new terminology to butress and fill the gapping hole in the heart of JWdom.
Because now the great crowd is anyone that chooses jesus over satan at the end of the world. The us vs them dichotomy is a falacy under current docterine. So I assume the word "believers" will be the JW catch phrase of the millenium. Because it is very vague you can class and declass many people with out the bother of a JC. For all we know apostates could be re-claissfied as unbelievers. Remember "the jonadab class". Classic case of how JWism has no qualms renaming its patrons to something less bizzar. If they go with believer unbeliever it really opens up their options on how to handle matters. You never know this may never bear fruit or could be the first wave of night vision (minor changes that are never annouced as changes).
JWs problem for the longest time is bigoted terminology. If they ever change that I am sure many opponents that know realtivly little about jws may change them from being dangerous to anonying.

Who ARE the 144,00??
by TallTexan inthere have been a couple of posts recently about the 144,000. since the wt theory is bogus, i ask the forum, "who are the 144,000"?
i know the traditional view of some religions is that they are 144,000 literal jews who will convert near the gt to witness to the jewish population.
not sure that makes a whole lot of sense to me.

The 144k are just born again christians. The only real debate is if the number is finite and literal or symbolic.
Con sidering they went from a Jew Gentile classification to a Christian heathen classification it is not supprising that in the latter works the writers tried to make a new two class system. People with Jesus and "the great crowd" of those with out that benefited from jesus sacrifice anyway by being freed from death.
The problem is where dose everyone end up. In all truth the people that wrote the bible did not know. They just know you can be ressurected on earth or to heaven. Infact the bible only talks about individual cases of earthly ressurection. The speak about going to heaven is always in visions or generalizations.
Ohio um there have been over 144k anointed JWs so they need to explain than before they explain the barmitzvah club. ANd Jws do read their bible. It is just they dont care about what it means in general like an exjw would. THe would get to revalations 14:4 and say hmm that must be symbolic because it is unrealistic for god to only let jewish boys into heaven.
