Your conversation with Gus shows just how well JWS are conditioned to close their minds to new ideas and not accept their is any conflict in the organization............He seemed to have all the textbook answers as any good elder would,,,,, but as another poster stated,,,, you probably gave him a lot to think about later when he cools down.......You handled the discussion so well.....maybe Gus and Dorothy might open their minds a bit to exploring their religion and whether it is truly "god-inspired".....

Dorothy and Gus just left
by gwyneth inthey caught me off guard...i didn't sleep well because i had to put my cat rocco to sleep yesterday, and for some reason awoke at 2 a.m. to cry another hour...my eyes are puffy with big bags under them.
so i went back to sleep.. since i decided to write this as a big run-on sentence, i have put what they say in red, and what i say in yellow.. dorothy was in her 70's, and she told me that in the new system, cats would still die but we wouldn't be so attached to them.
he asked what congregation.

What do you feel when you see groups of Jehovah's Witnesses on the street?
by nicolaou inregret, anger frustration?
how about sadness, sorrow, sympathy, understanding, even yearning!.
it can be quite confusing at times.

I feel relieved that I no longer have to do that.... and I feel sorry for the JWS who feel that they still need to be involved in the preaching work.....such a waste of lives........waiting for a world that will never come..

JESUS GOT OFF LIGHT!!!!!!
by avishai inlately, with all the talk about mel gibsons new movie, etc., it got me to thinking.
here you have people that suffer for their whole lives.
with cerebral palsy, constant pain, watching their entire families get gunned down.. here is the deal.

WE don't need faith in some higher power to make life meaningful. Everything we accomplish here on earth,,medical breakthroughs, space exploration, helping others in need .............is through the efforts of other humans who care to make the world a better place. That is nothing to do with God , sacrifices or faith. Just people wanting to make the world a better place for others and generations to come..... I know that JWs are always waiting for God to come and fix everything.. for the new system to come..... with their logic .... the world would stagnat forever.......

Well.. it would have to be #2. They didn't.............................But once the CO dropped over with his wife, I was at work, we had one son and had recently boughht a small modest home to raise our family in. The CO told my husband we should sell our house and rent so I wouldn't have to work and would have more time for spirtual matters. ......My husband pointed out that our mortgage was not much more than renting at the time so that seemed pointless....At least we weren't working and having nothing after!!! ...Surprisingly,,,the CO's wife spoke up in our defense that buying seemed more sensible . She got a look from her CO husband.....LOL..bet she got told after not to speak against him.....

I just watched it. Great special effects. It was funny with Grandma driving, so typical of some drivers so small they can't barely see over the stearing wheel..

Honestly, do you think that JW's really like going to 3 or 4day assemblies?
by JH in.
honestly, do you think that jw's really like going to 3 or 4 day assemblies, especially when it's out of town, far away, and you have to take a motel room, and all the gas money and food money it takes, as well as having to sit down all day listening to endless talks...and that for 3 or 4 days in a row.. and often, they have to take a day off from work, to attend the friday meeting, so no pay for that day.. i think that the jw's are glad when it's finally over, not before.. .

Well I know I used to hate it. Especially with 2 toddlers to drag along who just wanted to run around and play or eventually got tired or/and hungry. Good waste of valuable time.....

Aude, If it isn't the same book, it is about the same topic. It would be an interesting book to read. I wonder what the author's history is that he wrote a book to expose the untruths about the JW religion?

Is the Watchtower hurting financially?
by truthseeker inwhile surfing e-watchman's paradise forum, i clicked on one of the topics i never go to, "our meetings & assemblies" and found an interesting post on the wt bleeding financially.. it was posted 3 months ago.. http://e-jehovahs-witnesses.com/viewtopic.php?t=2888&postdays=0&postorder=asc&&start=0.
in my neck of the woods (which shall remain anonymous) the do and co have been circulating the rumour that the watchtower society is in financial straights and is being bled dry.
this must be very pressing.

Well, they are possibly hurting financially from publisher donations, but they do get some financial relief from older ones who have willed all their worldly possessions to the society....... I have seen my in-law's will... They are leaving $100,000 first to the society before any of their children see a penny. Also my husbands aunt owns prime vacation land in the carribean where she lives and rents out rooms to vacationers. It is oceanfront land. It is all willed to the society as she was a good pioneer sister and never married or had kids..... ..I am sure there are many more like them out there who are leaving everything to the society to buy their place in the New System.

New light in everyday life.
by zagor inmy sister had to borrow some money, around $500 from this brother which she was going to return of course.
but she was getting married, and dub said "well you dont have to return that money it is your wedding gift.
" needless to say she was really happy and drilled my mind about jw being good people.

sounds like he wanted to look like a wonderful generous guy in that moment in front of friends, but never really meant what he said. Its your sister's decision what she should do. I hope she realizes that not all Dubs can be trusted just because they claim to be a JW.
