first timer
by DramaQueen inthis is my first time on this web site.
i learned about it from my mom who also posts here.
i used to be a jw but was (thankfully) never baptized, and because of that (the fact that i am no longer a jw) it has kept me from talking to my grandmothers, some of my uncles, and my aunts and also some of my cousins.

Kristi died about 30 mins. ago
by Frannie Banannie infor those of yall that didn't know, kristi was a 37-yr-old ms patient that i took care of for the last year of her life.
she had a wonderful ribald sense of humor and talked like a sailor at times.
but it was all to cover up the ultra-sweet and tender heart she had.

**MUST READ** AlanF's email to Knocking.org
by sf inthis is a must-read that, hopefully, will stay an "active topic" for all seekers and lurkers, by bumping it to the top as often as possible.
alan wrote it in randys {dogpatch} thread regarding knocking.org documentary and in reply to the email mr. engardio sent to barbara anderson.
however, it is so vital a read that it indeed needs its own thread:.

That is a great post,, so informative,,,,, its good to keep reading about all the foolish lies and stories the society has fed to its members over the years,,,,, and how they change to conform to unrealized prophecies and keep their members waiting for something that will never come..... Its easy to see why they discourage any reading of old material,,,, its makes them look so pathetic ... Thanks AlanF....enjoyed reading it so much......

See the JW, not the person
by robhic ini've written before about my poor jw gilfriend and her health problems (i am not a jw).
she was in the hospital for an infection the last 3 days and, like usual, a few jws visited her.
(the hospital is conveniently located 5 blocks from their kh...) in speaking with her at times she would mention that "some ladies from my church came to visit" followed immediately by stating her lack of familiarity or even recognition of one or more of the ladies visiting.. she has had jws visit her in hospital and at home many times before.

yes.. its true that it is more about being a fellow JW than caring about the person for the person. When I was still attending meetings, an older sister who every loved and was a very kind person, (in spite of her being in a cult), was dying of cancer and was hospitalized. The sisters took turns sleeping on a cot in her room at nite so she wouldn't be alone when she died. A nurse commented that she had more visitors than most patients,,, to which the visiting sister said,,,,,"we are Jehovah's Witnesses". .....even at the time,, it sounded more like propagaganda than actually caring. to me........I know of ones who didn't attend regularly and no one visited them at all....................

It seems like more and more are finding out the "truth" about the "truth" thanks to the information found on the internet. Nice to see so many freed from a life of lies, brainwashing and just not being able to enjoy life the way it was meant to be enjoyed. Welcome to all the new posters......

Sport and JWs!!!
by zagor injust wondering what your experiences are.
were you "encouraged" not to devote time to personal exercise, gym or sport in general?
i remember this one time co gave a talk how "we do not need sport" then he proceeded to explain how walking up the stairs in field service was exercise enough for our legs, then how we didn't need any stretching exercise as making gestures while explaining the bible verses would do the job, and so on.

It was discouraged in our area to let your children play on organized "worldy" sports teams, although one elder who ran his own business and drove a cadillac ,,,had lots of money and donated lots of money to the hall,,,, had his son and daughter in organized sports....No one said a word to him about that........ Some brothers used to rent a ice rink to play hockey together late Sunday nite. ...It seemed as long as you were playing with other brothers,,,it was acceptable in our area......
