That's like when the simpletons at the Hall would comment on the "Special Talk"; "Isn't it wonderful that all of Jehovah's people are hearing this same talk at the same time?" They don't even think about the fact that 3 congregations shared the same Hall and had the talks at different times, not to mention time zones. One year they nattered on in this same vane even though we were having the talk a week late.

i came upon this letter to the editor in my morning newspaper:.
churches ought to be taxed like others.
after sept. 11, 2001, i think it was jerry falwell who said that it happened because people turned away from god.
I think they should be fully taxed like any other business. With all the proper regulations in place.

i just realized that i'm an internet fanatic.
i have got to have access.
over the weekend, the broadband company that i used had a "node" out.
We spend too much time online, yet not enough. We only have one slow hook-up. But....when our computer died, I must admit, we rushed out and bought a new one. Couldn't stand the down time.

i remember back in the '70's, when the co visited, he stated from the platform that there were people working at bethel who had been there for many years and who had initially started, not because they were interested in the truth, but because they wanted some means of support.
(not, of course, that they would make good money, but at least have room and board.
) now the society had gotten wise to them and made all the bethelites take a written examination on the basic beliefs, and the ones who flunked were dismissed.
I can imagine alot of JWs would fail that test. I remember one older "sister"'s comment on the quality of answers at the Watchtower study, "even a Hindu could give those answers."

friday night on the way home from work, my cell phone rang and i answered it without looking at the caller id.
it was my jw mother....i haven't talked with her in six months.
she started the conversation "hi cabby do you know who this is?
Way to go, Carol! Good for you. It's nice to hear of the JWs meeting with firm resistance on all fronts.

first of all i find it very hard to pray...i dont like the way we have to talk into the air hoping he is listening.. i dont like the way he expects us to do his will no matter what.. i just dont like god..i hate his way of doing things and i dont like that he has permitted his creation to suffer whilst we are living.. ill never love jehovah

my wife and i started fading about 2 1/2 years ago, but for different reasons.
she had noticed the lack of love and justice in the congregations, even experienced some firsthand and the abusive conduct of elders against the r&f.
on the other side, i was starting my research on the wt and had pretty much decided i didn't want any part in the borg.

my wife went to a meeting today and a funny thing happened.
the public speaker from out of town did not show up!
so instead of ad-libbing for an hour they just ended the meeting an hour early!
Boy, IPSec, you were a real killjoy! Glad you're here with us now, the cong. maybe will be able to get a break once in awhile.
I just cringe when I think back on things we were overzealous about. But, I have to say, getting out of meetings early wasn't one of them.

I remember well the feeling of happiness and relief whenever the public talk was cancelled for some reason. Even better, when the whole meeting was cancelled because of bad weather!
