Hi. Welcome to the board.

.
this week, my congregation has the privilege of the visit from the circuit overseer.. my mother took a day off work to go out.
i put in for extra hours.. in the off chance we get wrapped up in discussion, what should i say?.
Ask him if it's true that some elders get their cars serviced and slip it into the CO car's expenses?

hey.
has anybody thought about how meny jw it takes to convert one non-believer into jw.
and how meny ex-jw it takes to get one jw out of organization?
I don't know how you'd ever get the statistics. In our case, the two of us never converted even one person to the JWs. However, when we left we took 9 people with us.

as shown by the text below, the 7-headed wild beast has a name.. 16 and it puts under compulsion all persons, the small and the great, and the rich and the poor, and the free and the slaves, that they should give these a mark in their right hand or upon their forehead, 17 and that nobody might be able to buy or sell except a person having the mark, the name of the wild beast or the number of its name.
18 here is where wisdom comes in: let the one that has intelligence calculate the number of the wild beast, for it is a mans number; and its number is six hundred and sixty-six.
of course the beast's "number" is "666" -- but that's not it's "name".
I think the name of the beast is Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society. All though, come to think of it, it could be the Christian Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses.

i had no family in the jw's, so no one forced me into it.. i had a worldly friend, whom i didn't know had a jw background, became a jw and gave me a bible study.
i was 27 at the time.
if it wasn't for him being a friend, i would have never joined this religion.
My husband was raised a JW. He was inactive when we met but still "believed". I could see that it was something important to him. After we were married we both studied and were baptized. We studied our way into, through and out of the religion. Unlike many here, we didn't have a bad time amongst the JWs. We left for doctrinal reasons.

the wts is building a huge new construction in brooklyn.
if they are laying off 1200 bethelites what do they do with all the new space.
is all the brooklyn property used for watchtower related things or is some of it leased to others as a realestate investment?
Gumby,
Of course they benefit. It doesn't have to be sitting in a bank account with their name on it. They travel well, eat well, dress well, good health care, all expenses paid, etc. What more could they want?
I know for sure that there used to be (could still be) a nice condo in Hawaii that a "brother" owns. This condo is at the disposal of the WTS and their reps (COs and such). There's even a sister who's job it is to stock the cupboards, clean and be general servant. I've heard that there's many more like this around the world. We just need to find out who these generous "brothers" are and how they've come by their money.

Yes, my nonJW family sent cards and gifts. I respected their beliefs by accepting them as graciously as I could. They respected my beliefs and I tried to respect theirs.

if you have followed our story you know we were moving out of state to start over and get away from tons of extended jw family.. we are officially moved.
hundreds of miles away from our old life.
as i write this, i feel numb, cold, and very raw.
Congratulations! We're wishing you all the best in your new life.

Nice to see you back. Don't despair over your daughter. It's a slow process.
