The fall out of shunning
by unbeliever inmy mom has shunned my df'd sister for 10+ years.
my brothers and i are not baptised and she will have a relationship with us even though its very strained.
we have gotten together a few times over the years and had a meal together that mom cooked.

JW view of psychiatrists...
by Fleur inyesterday i was having a debate with my mother (who bucks the jw system by still talking to me even though i'm df'd, my parents are the only relatives who will see me) and she was going on about how the only people she ever knew who committed suicide had lost jehovah's holy spirit.
she said the same thing of people who go on medication, that it's the same as drug use and that its opening the door for demons.. that was when i finally dropped the bomb on her, that i have been on anti-depressants on and off for more than 10 years.
i have stopped taking them cold several times when i needed to (got pregnant, other reasons for another day) so they are not addictive.

Please tell your mom on my behalf that she is sadly mistaken in her views. My dad, who was known to be "full of Jehovah's holy spirit", the most zealous and active brother in his congregation, is now dead, by suicide after living his life, according to the mind controlling WTS. He carried little cards in his wallet with quotes from the WA and AW regarding their damning view of psychiatry since the 60's, to remind him that it was wrong to go for help from such a worldly one. It would be a threat to his faith. When he had no choice but to seek their help, he was consumed with guilt and used the whole session to preach to the guy. My father was his Dr's first patient ever lost to suicide, and he was very interested to meet with us for further info that could assist him in dealing with JW patients.

We took a return visit to the hall for the first time (& last time) - he happened to be a non-white - we introduced him to an elder who jubilantly said:
" Oh, I've seen you before....on the WALL OF THE POST OFFICE!"

What did you do with your Bible Studies?

I didn't have any - and the PO told me it was because I had no "joy" in the service.
Before my dad took his life, he told his long time study that he wouldn't be able to study with him anymore since he hadn't yet shown interest in getting to meetings. When I found all his return visit lists, I had originally informed one of the elders that I would turn them over to him - but as each day passed and I was on my own way "out", I just couldn't do it - eventually I ripped them all up and tossed 'em with an unusual mix of emotion.

but where's the resident translator here? I gather from that link that it's a satirical humor site and living in the SWest I can make out scattered words here and there, but not enough to get the point.
