Religion should serve as a moral compass, point you in the right direction. Anything beyond that and I'm scared.

This may sound funny, but my family would celebrate every year a " Gift Day". It would be in December but never the week of Christmas. We would get gifts for each other and have a family meal. We would always have a turkey dinner the weekend of Thanks Giving but we would never call it that.....just "Turkey Day". I guess my mother who was behind most of this was trying to have her cake and eat it too. Being a JW and still having some form of celebration in her life. I did Gift Day for the last 12 years as my wife was than still a witness and I wanted the kids to have something to look forward to. She would never give or be willing to receive a gift that day but she put up with it.
Did other JW families makeup holidays or was my family an exception?

I call my father once a week.......yes we have had it out over the JW's. But, I do it just to say I LOVE YOU and I have been thinking of you. My mother made the trip home some time ago and is always missed. The point is I let him choice to hang up on me if that's what he wants. Sometimes just saying I LOVE YOU is enough.

Welcome "Puppy" To The Forum!
by Corvin ini had to go to radio shack today to buy some wire for a project.
i was helping a friend with his electronic devices and was running late to meet him.
as i stood near the check out line, a woman softly spoke my name.

Welcome Puppy,
Grab a book, pull up a chair, put a fire in the fireplace. This is a great place to be with lots of warm hearted people here.

Life seems so much brighter now.
That's how I feel......shame I can't pass the feelings along to my family that are still entrapped. For them it is guilt and fear that sets the pace for their life. When I walked away, let it really go, it was like a great dark cloud had lifted off me. I saw the organization for what it was, no rosy colored glasses on, it was an ugly beast.

Has this happened to you?
by ball. ini just went round the corner for a breakfast in the local cafe, and as i was about to go in, there was a jw, one of my best mates, just coming out.
i just stood there and looked at him in amazement, as i haven't seen him in 10 years and he had changed a lot.
i guess i have too.

Gumby,
I enjoy seeing the challenge of how they handle talking to me.....If they feel uncomfortable then something must not be right inside of them. When I was a JW, I WAS a JW. I would never have had a problem with turning my back on a Df'd person, even one who once was my friend.
In retrospect, I do feel sorry for these ones, my family included. They are captive to a way of life that they themsevles can not see. I have nothing but love to offer them all...and would help and aid any who would want to be free in any way I could. As for the organization, I have nothing but HATRED! When I needed them the most.......they left me dieing on the side of the road....it's a long story. If in my life I can ever do anything to hurt the organization (not the people) I will not hesitate. When I can post a new thread, I'm at my limit, I'll give the short version of my fall from grace and introduce myself.

When I run into JWs, I go up to them, extend my hand, and speak to them ... why not? What should stop us? Is there some 'no-talking' rule we have to obey? If they talk back with me, which most do, I accept that ... and if they shun me, then I made them feel all the more dirty, unclean, and uncomfortable ... it is a perfect world ... win-win ... except ... I pity them for the communist-style system they live under ...
I'd have to agree with this.......Hell, I enjoy making them uncomfortable....I don't take life that serious anymore.
Nowadays, I just have to have a little fun. What rules? hehehe

It's never to short and never too long. Hell you can bounce it off
the walls. But, the love I have felt or seen from my family and
the christian congergation of Jehovah's Witnesses is more like a
cold hard brick. Nothing like having the family throw bricks at ya!
