New Stupid Assembly Rules

i have heard on this discussion board numerous rules that apply to upcoming a$$emblies.

some are designed to stop people from meeting the opposite sex; others, to make sure everyone is always ready to recruit new members into the scam.

i heard that some km inserts have been urging those whose congregation has cleaning assignments to sit in the section that they are assigned to clean.

Communities are built on shared experiences. And as awful as some of the "lunches" that some here have experienced when left to the WTS food prep dept., the

lunches at the conventions I went to before the "simplification" weren't too bad. But the food wasn't the point. You actually walked around, saw friends, talked, spent time with others, and

to me it was a sense of community that only a shared meal conveys.

When they went to the "simplified" arrangement, it was everyman for himself. And it has been everyman for himself ever since. Not just cultish, but selfish and exclusive.

in new hampshire, the council that has power to make laws happen, voted against the mandatory seat belt law.

it appears that seat belt use will remain voluntary.

do you believe the government should require such laws??

it just dawned on me, and i'm really a little put out over it.

i was reading alanf's comments about vinny and his willingness to sacrifice children if god told him to.

alan suggested any fundamentalist christian should agree he would, and vinny did in fact agree.

I don't believe God ever asked Abraham to sacrifice Isaac. I don't believe He that he did or that He asked to be done the heinous things attrubuted to Him in the OT.

that is not quite true.

to see that patriarchal and israelite culture adhered to a different standard, we must first understand just how the old testament treats marriage, sexuality and related items.. the old testament view of women as property.

The WTS always says that God "permitted" polygamy and other sexual practices inconsistent with today's sexual contexts because of his regard for the "customs of their times."

The WTS always feels the need to apologize for God as if they are somehow embarrassed by Him. It is clear that God not only "permitted" these other sexual practices, but actually

protected them by their codification in the Law. In some instances, He quite clearly not just "permitted" but encouraged.

The God of the WTS may be uptight and prudish, but I never believed that that's how He was or who He is. It seems that if He is constant and unchanging as James says in his epistle,

then what was good enough for Him 4000 years ago should be good enough for Him today.

God doesn't make things difficult--- it's those who speak in his name that make life hell for their fellows.

did the watchtower societys view of sex make sense?wait until marriagethis is typically the acceptable practice among jehovahs witnesses.

there can be an argument about the watchtowers proposal for the use of chaperons.

however, admittedly it seems impractical and resisted in modern western civilization.

The WTS view on all things sexual is unhealthy. I often thought this view originated with the patriachal society of the near east in which female virginity was prized for it

made daughters marrriageable; and a marriageable daughter was valueable to the OWNER, dear old Dad. This fits hand in glove with the Levitical Law of marrying any virgin that a man takes and PAYING the father the bride price. It was more a matter of economics and property and pride.

Waiting until one is ready for sex, when one has some maturity, say out of high school at least, is not a bad idea. I think it is a good idea. Punishment, however, WTS style

is definitely more detrimental then the failing of the human of the human being.

Also, what of two grwon people, both either widowed or divorced who simply do not want the tether of marriage but enjoy the company of one another and the occasional

romp. I think that is best left to the individual. I say it is all about control over women .

congregation behind in their donation !!!

recently at a theo night, it was mentioned that the cong was behind in their donation to the society and it was specifically mentioned that the mags and books cost $$4 and the donations weren't even with the amount of mags and books being requested.

does this not show that the society is still after the congregations for the money for "free" mags and books?

what a bunch of hyprocrites.

Now that I am mentally free, I see the dishonesty and cunning in their quest for money. Always more and more and more money. What do they do with the MONEY? Who is keeping the MONEY? Where is the MONEY?

In politics, in business, and in religion.... follow the money. THAT'S where the truth lays.

you would pinch the paper between your fingers and feel like you're holding a piece of paper instead of a tissue.

They don't want to SAVE money, they want to MAKE and KEEP money. If they really wanted to simplify, they'd sell everything, give it to the poor, and use just the scriptures...... wait, wait.... that sounds too much like christianity. Sorry.

Glaring contradiction between 1995 new light and Society's authority as FDS

in the 15 october 1995 watchtower the society brought out 'new light' that although christ sat down as king in 1914, but he did not sit down on his 'glorious throne' mentioned at matt 25: 31 in that year.

i cant understand why the society bothered to make this change in 1995?

this change was in some ways more damaging to them than the generation change, because the society essentially sawed off the branch they were sitting on by announcing this 1995 new light.

When I was a freshmen in high school I discovered the secret to a true and succesful bullshit artist was neither that he BELIEVED his own bullshit or could keep his bullshit straight, but that he could say it unabashedly, unapologetically, and makes others feel guilty for even questioning him.

The WTS is truely the world's greatest bullshit artist. I would call it chutzpah if it were not so tragic and evil. These people are evil, man. If you're a lurker--- RUN!!!!

Me too. The pics in the "Paradise" book. Of course, it should have been called "The Give Your Child Nightmares Forever" book.

Have I mentioned these people are evil? Not the ones dieing in the pics, but the ones drawing the pics? Evil, I tell you.

Did anyone ever notice the similarity between what comes out of Bethel and what came out of the Third Reich propaganda?
