I like Greendawn's comment about their demands falling so short of their delivering on promises.
People tell me they miss me, too, to which i say, "Well, you know my number and you know where I live." It is a TOTAL sham really.
I frankly DO NOT want to be around dubs. I have grown to loathe the pettiness, the fake smiles, the feigned concern, the obligatory hello.
What do they DO for anyone anyway? How have they EVER helped anyone? What have they ever done for YOU? Who among them has come around to see if you are even ALIVE?

Trinity

just thought i would stop in, say hi, and get your thoughts on this.. since leaving the jws i have tried to be open to all ideas regardless of how different it is from the way i was raised.
i am having trouble with one issue, though, the trinity.

The Trinity, to me, is man made drivel. It is an issue the JW's point to and say "Aha! See! We have the truth! THEY teach you lies." I wouldn't get too hung up about it.

The "Flood" could have happened just as the Bible says, but not how it was interpreted to say. Noah could well be a historical character, he could have built an ark, and the Flood could in reality have been very localized. Perhaps it was just a warning about a pending natural disaster and the writers (Moses) turned it into something more to suit their purpose. As for Jesus, you have to parse very carefully what he actually says about the "days" of Noah. He never said, for instance, that the flood was global, only that it came and swept them all away. Well, the same could be said about other events that came and swept them all away, except they weren't global. Just a thought.

of course you know i'm referring to the door to door work they take part in.
so many lives are at stake and your life is dependent on if you "accept the good news" that they preach.. i surely don't believe this anymore.

Recently Dr. D. James Kennedy passed away. Before you get a picture in your mind about a holy roller, research his life a bit. What was very interesting to me about his ministry, was the evangelism he taught his congregants to perform. He did this not through a PROGRAM, but through fostering a love for Christ and His gospel. His ministry reached every country in the world, including China and the USSR.
Now, you may not beleive he had the "TRUTH." But he certainly demonstrated the charateristics in his life consistent with Christianity and was tireless in advancing the "The Great Commission." He did so with conviction, with enthusiasm, and with love. He had good news!
As a Witness, we are isolated from such men because we are taught that they are all serving, that they teach unscriptural doctrines, that they line their own pockets, that they do not evangelize like Jesus and Paul did. The reason I believed for so long was precisely becuase of that isolation.
I do not endorse anyone nor think anone possesses the "truth." But I do beleive the Watchtower falls was short, not only in its claim of preaching the good news world wide, but of preaching the good news at all. The message they take to people is far different from the one Jesus taught.

The more I read and dwell on the Genesis story, the more I am I an convinced it is just a story.
To the point of the thread, according to the story itself, God did not "murder" Adam and Eve. The serpent was the manslayer. Perhaps humans were meant to be more than the angels themselves. Maybe we are the higher creation and someone like Lucifer just couldn't stand it. The interpretations of the story I am sure are endless. What I think is simplistic and fantastic is the JW explanation of it.

i tell my wife last night i have been having some interesting e-mails with my dad about the qb from the sept km we are to study this week.
she says she has read it, but does not remember it.

Every one is entitled to their own opinion. They are not, however, entitled to their own facts. And while one may find Rudy hypocritical, one cannot change the FACTS of what he said in his quote.
As for life experience, I'll sail the boat designed by a nautical engineer, manufactured by shipwrights with EXPERIENCE, education, and certification. You can sail the one designed and made by those who have opinions on boat building, but not the requisite EXPERIENCE.
