I say, if you want to keep a secret from a Jehovah's Witness, put it in the Watchtower magazine. This is a quote from Gar Buss from a different thread. Seems fitting.

What the WT Mag says you need to belive if you want to become a JW.
by A-Team in8/22/86, questions from readers excerpt.
*** approved association with jehovah's witnesses requires accepting the entire range of the true teachings of the bible, including those scriptural beliefs that are unique to jehovah's witnesses.
what do such beliefs include?

Would there be a backlash if the Blood Ban was lifted?
by Gill inwould there be a backlash from current jws if the blood transfusion ban was lifted and made completely a conscience matter?.
i suspect, that only those who had lost a close relative would be bothered.
the others would just be relieved that they didn't have to worry about this traumatic issue anymore and they would carry on as ususal.. so, what is it, except for fear of legal action, that is stopping the ban being lifted?

I believe the achille's heel to the blood issue is that the GB has framed the issue not as religious but as medical. For example, they have at least 2 brochures dealing with blood as a medical issue. They have 3 videos dealing with blood as a medical issue. They have the Hospital Laison Committees which advise on blood substitutes.alternative therapy, etc.... These are MEDICAL interpolations by a religious corporation. Are they licensed to PRACTICE medicine? The practice of medicine can be as simple as giving somone medical advice. Are they licensed and trained to do this? They tell their members it is a matter of religion and yet advise them on a matter of medicine.
I think if someone with the juice, say some bored tobacco company suing lawyer wants a crusade, he can get one against the WTS. Hell, they went after and won against McD's for serving hot coffee. That isn't nearly as egregious as killing people. For that matter, they won against Big Tabacco and has bigger pockets then them? It takes a Big Gun to bring down a Big Elephant. I think they're out there.

Your money AND your LIFE
by TopHat inyou may have heard about bandits who waved watchtowers in their victim's face, demanding: "your money and your life!
" today, this legendary demand is echoed in a challenging dilemma facing all of usespecially those of us living the jw life.
this time, however, it is no bandit that presses the demand.

They talk the talk but don't walk the walk. Why don't they sell off all their assets and distribute the money to their own poor? The early Christians did it. Why not follow that example? Because they are hypocrites. And they have the balls to accuse the Catholic Church of opulence whilst the laity go hungry and yet the CO's last year showed the video of poor JW's building KH's and appealled to the rank and file for money for these poor folks. Why don't they give free? Why don't they help their own out of poverty? Simple.
These guys are evil.

JWs and their thoughts on prayers by "worldly" people.
by R.F. inhow have jws expressed their views as to the prayers of people that aren't jws?
do they think god listens and answers?.
for instance, one elder that was speaking of prayer said, "just think how wonderful it is.

If God knows everything, then he knows your prayers. I think what the Bibile writers meant about God "hearing" a prayer may have to do with actually His acting on what you pray for. I personally find it inconceivable that anyone can believe in God and believe that he created us and then believe that he shuts his ears to everyone except a cult of 6 million WT salesmen.

4.5 million baptized in last 15 years.....
by Open mind inthis stat was quoted at the dc.
has anyone here talked about it?
especially as to how it could be used in figuring how many dubs are missing in action?

Two numbers they never disclose: the money that comes in and the money that goes out.
Those are the real important ones, IMO.
The other barometer, for me, as to the health of the religion, is not how many are baptized, but how many either leave or are put out. For example, when you measure a nation's health care progress, you measure mortality, not births. You may have 1 million babies being born, but if half are dieing before age 1, you're health care sucks. Same thing for the Borg. They'll never say though. Good thing Jehovah does all things in the light, huh?

Good call, Blueblades. Someone authorized the settlement. That would be a great document to have! The lawyers can sign as attorney-in-fact for many things, but the settlement is the client's call and lawyer wants to cover his own as*. Who signed? My money is Adams signed.

Tee shirt with foolish WT quotes, I will wear to reunion with witnesses
by dawg inas many of you know, i've been writing letters to family members telling them how damn stupid i think the gb is; providing proofs of all their comedic gaffs (building mansions for prophets and the like) including some of their most outlandish quotes-which i know all of us can remember verbatim.
spurned on by mary and others in this site, i've decided that i will try a new ploy.
my family reunion is every labor day and i've decided to wear a tee shirt to it with russell, rutherford, and franz's images on it... i will include images of a pyramid, beth sarim, on the front and 607?

Maybe you could try the one where they say homosexuality is not a basis for Christian divorce. I'm sure a picture on your tee shirt might be worth a thousand words!

Seriously, my wife says to me : So what should I tell people who ask about you how you are? ANd I say: Tell them I have never felt better.
Honestly, I am really happier than I have been in a long time--- I have more peace, I am less unsettled, I have less conflict in life--- and I have only missed meetings for three months. Geez, at a year I'll be bottling it!
This is just another WTS attempt at making healthy people feel guilty for going to the beach on the weekend or taking longer vacations. These guys are BS artists all the way.
