  Why do witnesses intentionally avoid having kids?

  1) don't want to deal with it at meetings is what i think would be on the top of the list.they see what others have to go through.. 2) i know a married couple jws, that are avoiding having kids, and i've heard of reasons from them like.... "don't want to raise them up in this system".

  "time is too short".

  "i'll wait until the next system of things".

  I didn't notice much difference between JW's and regular folks when it came to having kids or not.

  my sister called me this morning, she had the convention in tacoma last weekend.

  she said she tried not to listen as much as possible, but the comment that got her steamed was this:.

  Why I Loved the 2007 Convention "Follow the Christ"!

  i attended friday's part of the 2007 district convention "follow the christ" with my believing wife.

  we survived the limited parking and crowded seating (although large sections of the auditorium had been shut off).

  we suffered the monotonous program delivered by robotic speakers reading rehashed outlines.. so why did i love this convention?.

  The convention our congo. is assigned to this year is but a few minutes drive away. This is the first time in 12 years that we have been assigned to a convention within 3 hrs. drive time. So what am I doing to show my appreciation for God's goodness? Why, going to the beach! Yes, three blissful days on the ocean.

  Will The New Watchtower Kill Off The Awake?

  i don't know if any of you have considered this but is the new watchtower arrangement partly intended.

  to permit the end of the awake magazine?.

  it is a financially difficult thing for a religion the size of the "truth" to publish one - much less two .

  They will kill off the public issue of the WT, IMO. That way, you still have the 2 mags and AWAKE, at least in name only, doesn't connect with the WTS. I can see the dubs liking placements of only Awake mags. over placements of WT mags.

  How does GB keep the control not sitting in the board of the Inc.?

  The lawyers represent the Corporations and their shareholders. Whatever loyalty they may have sworn or feel to the GB, their CLIENT is the Corporation. When the GB actually was in charge of the Corporation I suspect their was very little conflict of interest that could have arised for a lawyer. But I think that right now, the potential for conflict of interest will increase over time as the lawyers counsel as a matter of law against positions the GB may takes as matter of religion. Their is at least potential for a showdown. Perhaps we will leave to see another "Harvest Sifting"?

  Why isn' the name "Jehovah" used?

  is it because many believe that jesus christ / god / holy spirit are all one being, and after jesus christ was born they stopped using god's name and put all focus on jesus?

  Excellent points. The WTS ascribes "superstition" to the lack of use of the divine name, YHWH. That is not the case.

  Here is something to think about though. The name YHWH means "He causes to become" "He causes to be" "I shall prove to be what i shall prove to be." It is my belief that in so identifying himself with this name, YHWH was telling the Hebrews that he was working on fulfilling his promises. Once Jesus came, whose name Yeshua means "Jehovah Saves", all the promises of YHWH were fulfilled--- he had indeed Proven to Be, He had Caused to BECOME--- all that He said he would. It was finished. There was nothing more for Him to do. All was complete in Christ. And part of that purpose was that ALL THINGS be subject to Jesus, every knee bend to Jesus, all authority be vested in Jesus. Jesus is the AMEN to all God's promises, in fact the Scriptures say he is God's gaurantee, He is the WORD of God. The JW's DISHONOR the Son, and consequently dishonor the Father, by not making Jesus name a superior one. They not only miss the point of Christianity---salvation through Grace---- but shut the door to a relationship with God by virtue of the wall they have created between themselves (the FDS) and the Son. The insertion of YHWH in the NT is not only arbitrary, capricious, and dishonest--- it serves as a sign identifying the WTS as an active agent AGAINST the will of YHWH.

  Doubting JWs ever approached you?

  while you still were jws did any doubting jw ever try to talk to you about the flaws of the org and instil in you some doubt?

  someone had told me that he didn't believe the gb members were straight and honest people that many of their ideas were wrong and that they had a secret agenda to pursue beyond the one they publicly proclaimed.

  at the time i thought he may be right since they seemed to control everything and didn't allow anyone to contribute even the (so called) anointed.

  I have had a few ask me. One is still in and a very close friend. In the end, she asked me to not discuss it anymore because it was creating too much mental conflict. She likes her life in the Borg even though the demands stress her out and she enjoys none of the routine, but all her family and friends are in. I very gently told her that SHE was the one who asked, not me.

  I also almost approached a long time elder on our body who resigned and within weeks both he and wife had totally dropped of the radar. I wondered how a smart, caring guy like that could suddenly lose his zeal. What happened? I have to ask! Well, I never did. I now know what happened: he got the truth about the Troof, no question.

  the speaker first starts with what he called the "alphabet soup" of degrees....a.a., b.a., m.a., ph.d., etc.

  ARMAGEDDON: bring it on, baby. These people are foolish. I used to think they were victims. But they aren't. I was fooled because all the evidence was there for me to see and I chose to believe this stuff. Why didn't somone kick my ass 20 years ago? WHERE WERE YOU GUYS?

  Removing Apostate Lies from the Internet with Legal Action...why not?

  if a lot of the negative experiences and comments about the watchtower bible and tract society and jehovah's witnesses on the internet really was all apostate lies, surely the wt society would have a legal right to take such supposed slanderers to court and sue to have the information removed.. they were able to remove quotes site just for repeating what they themselves had said.

  why do they not take the same action with regard to information they insist is just apostate lies?.

  The WTS loves lies about itself. They call it persecution and love the martyrdom it brings.

  The WTS hates the TRUTH, is terrified of the TRUTH, and does what it can to attack the TRUTH. So far, in my few years on the net, I have seen or read very few "lies" about the WTS. The TRUTH about itself is what's damning.

  Are elders more "pure" than the other JW's ?

  i always considered elders like "cops" in the congregation, looking into other people's business and looking for faults.

  they give the impression that they are pure and do no wrong and by the fact, they can judge others and counsel them.. i'd love to turn the tide around and find out about their faults and sins.. .
