Understanding apostacy....I just dont feel like one

so when an elder friend informed me they were concerned my thinking may be headed towards apostacy, i reminded him i had never said anything bad against the society, sure had no teachings of my own, nor wanted any followers, just answers.

also reminded him that all my research was wt material based, and the problems/contridictions i had found were troubling for that very reason.

he agreed that i had stayed on pretty safe ground.. but when i looked into it a bit more, it could easily go either way.

The WTS can't even be original in defining their own theology. "Present Truth" is used by many religions who believe that they too have God's power of revelation.

It is all so much horsehit.

As for apostacy, the answer they give in the Insight Book is a far cry from the the definition they give us in the flock book. An adherent must beleive everything that the WTS teaches, in their words, "beleifs that are particular to jehovah's witnesses." If you don't believe it, you're apostate. Funny thing, most witnesses DO NOT believe everything the WTS teaches and many have no clue what they teach at any given time about a particular subject.

Jehovah's Witnesses Celebrates Thanksgiving

every year we (non-jw family) have thanksgiving at my grandma's house, all the jw family comes over on friday to eat left overs or take a plate home.

ok i think i've posted before on here about how thats a load of crap, it's still thanksgiving dinner no matter what.

i just heard that a family member who is the family jw nazi, is coming to my grandma's on thanksgiving day!!

Every year I have been married we have had Thanksgiving Dinner with my parents. We are all dubs, elders, pioneers, etc....

My in-laws say it is just a day that everyone has off and that the family can get together. DUH! That was the whole point of making it a national holiday!

We are heading to their house tonight! My MIL makes great Thanksgiving trimmings!

he shopped around and cherry picked 2nd adventist views as a foundation.

I used to wonder why I felt so NORMAL at school and so DIFFERENT at the KH and other WTS functions. Now i know why.

he talks first about the world economy, then the u.s.a. and ends up with oregon's economy ....he usually is right on.

he perdicted housing prices peeking the third quarter of "06" he this came to pass.

FYI: The 80's and 90's oil "glut" was not caused by an ever abundant supply of oil, but by the over drilling and production that was based on speculation-- it is why Texas went bust in the early 90's. I lived through the seventies--- not just born in them like you--- and the economic shock of oil prices was caused not by supply and or demand, but by politacl calculation in the early 70's and political dislocations in the late 70's.

The figures I quoted are available from the federal reserve. We spend LESS on energy today and LESS on food today than we ever have as a percentage of GDP. That is a FACT. It may nor feel like it, but the objective measure is accurate.

Maybe you see a recession coming, I do not.

Inventories are very low. American's net worth is at its highest since WWII. There is a great deal of pent up demand, even in housing.

I think oil prices and wintertime affect people and cause gloominess. That and the relentless 24 hour news cycle telling us how bad everything is.

That said, we spend 7% of GDP on energy today compared with 14% in 1978. We also spend

less for food as a proportion of household income than we did before WWII (10% versus 24%) thanks to farm programs and subsidies.

Housing market where I am is a good one, not not the gangbusters market we all got used to the last 7 or so years.

My business is doing well, although it is very competetive out there.

I see slower growth, but no recession.
