Just a heads up, it's on Netflix too as a streaming video.

"RAIN" - 1932 Movie starring Joan Crawford, Walter Huston
by ziddina in(hate posting this under 'entertainment' because the movie - though old - speaks volumes about "reformist" mentality and the hypocrisy that frequently accompanies it...).
i absolutely looooove this movie!
a young, beautiful joan crawford whose acting really knocks your socks off!

Are you sure leaving is a wise decision ?- Lurkers think twice- Part 2
by mankkeli inin the previous thread of this series, i called lurkers attention to the need of being discreet when contemplating an exit from the jw religion.
i mentioned that the thread was borne as a result of the general observations i made reading old posts here and discussing with many ex-jws and their lives have gradually turned out.
that thread alone was visited more than 2,980 times and graced with 204 contributions.

Who gave you the audacity to suggest a ban on me?.
Who gave you the audacity to tell lurkers how to follow their conscience? If they want to be here that's their right; only they know their reason for coming here, and for you to say they would be better off staying with "mother" and lead a life that goes against their own conscience is arrogant and demeaning.

How often do you see JWs in your neighborhood.
They come to my door about every other year. I have JW neighbors two doors down and they host Wednesday morning meetings, but they never come to mine. When I do get visits I challenge their beliefs so I think the word is out to stay away from my place. The last time I saw them canvasing the neighborhood was prior to the last memorial and they knocked on my door in a very urgent manner. When I started to question their beliefs they practically ran away.

I don't get OBVES - do you?
by AK - Jeff init appears that obves started a ton of threads 9 years ago here on jwd/jwn.
all of them [that i have seen] filled with prophetic utterances regarding determining the end.
over those years, all the dates have failed.

I'd like to tell him to just go away, but that would be unkind (he wouldn't anyway). What we are seeing is mental illness playing out before our eyes, and that's sad. I wish he could get some help.
He is so wrapped up in having answers about the future, that he is pissing all over today.
I agree. Somehow his very identity is totally wrapped up in what he is doing. Without that to act as his crutch he wouldn't know how to exist because he wouldn't know who he is.

Out Of All JW Beliefs Which Is The Weirdest?
by minimus ini know there's plenty.. one that comes to mind is the blood doctrine.
whole blood is bad, blood fractions may be ok but not all.....wtf?
?.

As an outsider these are what stand out to me:
The belief that Jesus has returned, but invisibly (where's the proof?)
That belief Jesus has judged all religions and found that the JWs are the only true religion (where's the proof?)
I'm still scratching my head on these two. And of course, all of those beliefs relating to disfellowshipping and shunning stagger my mind.

Do you believe in past lives??
by watersprout ini am currently studying for my ''crystal therapy'' diploma and in the last module which is next month it looks at ''past life'' regression... well i for one do not believe in living before so will probably doze off during this last module... anyway i have been told by some people i know that i have been here before... apparently i ''date'' back to ''atlantis''... i found it very difficult to hold back my giggles so i said ''really, i always thought i was brand new''... to which started a discussion on past lives.. i just wondered if any of you lovely folk believed in past lives and had ever had any of this type of regression done??
i may not believe in it, but if it helps someone heal from emotional trauma then good for them and i'm really happy for that one.. just wanted some thought's on the subject.. peace.

Do yourself a favor and read Journey of Souls by Michael Newton - you just might change your thinking about reincarnation and the afterlife.

Wonderful news about Ali....and something to warm your heart
by coffee_black inas i have posted, my daughter ali has been in the cardiac intensive care unit since thursday.
her bp, heartrate and blood sugar went sky high, due to horrible coughing spells from a chest cold that left her gasping for air.. she has congestive heart failure, and has been treated for almost a year now.
she has improved over that year, but this was a real setback.. ali called me today with amazing news.

"My" truth is that when I am fully present to "what is" there is no "me" to be found. Just as past and future exist only as concepts, so too do "I" exist only as a concept. Without any concept of I/me there exists a simple, pure, silent, still, and peaceful sense of existence that is vibrantly alive and whole, and not separate from anything.
