5) MOST DISTURBING: that Jehovah ( and his cloak of protection) could be summoned simply by calling out his name. Was this some kind of SUPER HEROE joke?
Wonder Twin powers ... ACTIVATE!
periodically, we post about what we realize were good fables that were spoken as "gospel".
smurfs running up and down the aisles of the hall is a well known one......any you remember???

its funny that when i imagine what other posters look like - i alway imagine them as attractive, fit, well groomed, with bright, shiny happy faces.
i never see them as obese, nerdy, or with greasy hair and warts and pimples.
their noses are never too big - no body has a "comb-over.
<--------------------- I thought everyone looked a lot like this.
sorry for my ignorance but,.
what is the wts's stance on the dying out "anointed class"?
don't they comprise the "faithful, discreet slave"?
Two words, man: "new light".
what are us old folks to do?
use up our money living in an "assisted living" old folks home or spend the money on a cruise ship??.
sounds like a ridiculous question, doesn't it??
Stay at a Holiday Inn. You'll save $1,000 a month over the ship. And when you have an 'accident', a call to room service will still result in a miad at your door with clean sheets.
my situation is getting worse, i told my parents im going to move out in 6 months once i turn 18 whether i get to go to college or enlist into the navy.
my over zealous mom says that i can move out tomorrow.
now i have lots of friends at school, ive only hung out with few not that long but ive known em forever, should i burden them with me asking to move in with them?

Did she tell you that "you can move out"? Or did she simply tell you "Get out!" One is a parent calling a child on what she might be seeing as a bluff or posturing. The other is an unreasonable demand that you (a minor child) leave her home. Big difference ..
In your shoes, I would bite my tongue for the next 6 months, unless there's a lot more to the story than I'm reading here. Finish high school, and wait for your 18th birthday. As was said above, adult responsibilities come quickly enough.
many of you migth know the archetypal jewish hero was joshua (the successor of moses) otherwise known as yeshua ben nun (?jesus of the fish?).
since the name jesus (yeshua or yeshu in hebrew, ....ioshu in greek,...( source of the english spelling) , originally was a title (meaning ?saviour?, derived from ?yahweh saves?
)......what was jesus's real name?
I'm thinking his real name had to be Bobby Joe or Billy Ray or something like that. He was a blue collar worker ... a carpenter ... who spent lots of time hanging out & drinking with his fishing buddies.
sometimes, i think my husband is much more church oriented than i am.
i still get upset when i attend church, but lately he has been putting the push on me for us to go back to his church where he grew up in.
he would like to start taking our daughter so she has a somewhat structured religious belief.
I grew up Dub. Mrs. O grew up Catholic. So ... do we share beliefs? Yep. Probably 80-90% or so, even though I haven't been a part of Dubdom or any other church for more than 20 years now. We certainly have our differences ... and we wrestle with those ... but I think it's moe productive for a couple to seek out some common ground than to argue about the differences.
i was just watching nightline (i think it was) with diane sawyer.
the stars from ocean's twelve were on there.
i am not a person who normally gives too much praise to celebs or athletes but these guys/gals (brad pitt, catherine zeta-jones, andy garcia, george clooney, matt damon and don cheadle) were pretty brilliant.
Is it pathetic that I was thinking the same thing?
Pathetic. Yes, indeed. Now ... go show off your sexy legs to Kitties before I travel west to commit unspeakable acts.
bit of background.
i grew up as a jw i left the church when i was 14 because a ministerial servant who was conducting a one on one baptism study with me said that i couldn't ballance my dreams of being a professional singer with the so called "truth".
i stopped the study and told my mom i no longer wanted to be a witness.
I guess that's the thing: ALL a lie? Nope. I don't think so. Do I think the Dubs are full of shit in comparison to other faiths? Sure. Do I think they're full of shit when asked to stand on their own? Sure. But I don't think that everything I was taught while growing up is a lie. I think I learned a lot of good life lessons along the way, some of which are in sync with Dubdom.
george: condi!
george: yassir is in china?
george: look, condi.
I always loved Bud & Lou movies on Sunday afternoons when I was a kid.
