Yikes ... I never liked Dr. Seuss. No fav for me. Regardless, we wound up buying a bunch of the books for our kids. My daughter loved them. My son hated them. He always grabbed something else from the shelf for bedtime stories.

Did you give your children 'Bible names'?
by nicolaou ini have to admit that we gave our first two kids 'hebrew' names.
i don't want to identify my children online but suffice to say that we had at least some sense in that we opted for safe names of the samuel and daniel type - no melchizedeks!.
however, in our city we had a javan a samson [gen 10:2] and even a zechariah!

Well, I have a Bible name. and technically, so does my son ... but the reality of my son's name is that he was named after my paternal grandfather. They share a birthday.

Will do, Rabbit. I keep a Daisy Powerline next to the back door ... handy for eliminating squirrels from my yard.
I was amused to see BB in the chat room after April 22. I haven't bothered to check whether he has posted anything to a thread, though.

wierd ... I moved to MN after leaving Florida, too ... seven long. cold winters there convinced me that I must have been a complete loon to move to the land of 10,000 snowblowers.

Did You Feel "Safe" Being A Jehovah's Witness???
by minimus ini think many people remain as jws because they feel an isolation that spells security for them.
they enjoy being in their protected bubble.
the realization that they never have to make any real decisions is appealing.

No, I was never one of those people, Minimus. And that's probably the biggest reason for my departure .. soon after I turned 18, I was gone. I didn't like being told what to think or feel or do.
Once out of the org, I briefly considered joining the military, as I thought it would be interesting to travel to new lands, meet new people, and kill them ... but I quickly realized I'd be in another organization where I was told what to wear, what to do, how to conduct myself ... screw that.

What Is YOUR Concept of "God"?
by minimus inis he/she "real"?
are you now unsure of "god's" existence?
do you ever pray to "god", anymore??

I think He's out there ... somewhere. There is too much order in the chaos for it to not have been created. But I take more of a deist view of His relationship with us, in that I think He wound up His toys and turned us loose. I think we're on our own.
I don't pray to Him anymore. Well, at least not to ask for any help. I do occasionally express my thanks, usually in the middle of an orgasm or a really good meal.
I never felt like it did any good to ask Him for favors. I figure that either He has a master plan for all of us (which kinda throws the 'free will' concept out the window, and why would He set aside His master plan to deal with my prayer, anyway?) OR He has no plan whatsoever for us, which means He really doesn't give a rat's patoot ... either way, the prayers always seemed like a waste.
