Oh, Jeez ... we were told by a doc that Mrs. O would have great trouble conceiving and that we were likely to be childless. And so we set about rutting like weasels, thinking that we could screw each others' brains out with no repercussions.
WRONG!
Sure enough, she wound up knocked up a few years later. And then a few years after that. Now, I can't deny either of the goobers because they look too much like me and they're bright and they're funny ... I could try, I suppose, but it ain't likely to succeed.
I guess you could say that we're 'child-endowed by medical malpractice'. Stupid freakin' doc.

How many of you are childfree by choice?
by rebel8 inby that, i mean you do not want to have children.. i have been told since birth it would not be safe for me to have children, so i never even considered it.
i never went through a grieving period because the concept of having babies was not something i once had and lost.
i always envisioned myself as a happy career woman.. i recently married and am still sure i don't want children.

I just turned 28, two minutes ago. What advice can you give me?
by el jarocho mayor inwell, what advice can you give me?
-
Dan-O
"Well, what advice can you give me?"
At 28? Buy a gun. NOW!
Put the barrel up to your head and squeeze the trigger. If it doesn't pump a hot lead slug into your brain, ending your life, then buy a bigger gun and try again.
God willing, you will not have bred. Children are God's cruel joke upon us. -

Man's best friend.
by John Doe ini'm sorry if i come across as being callous and hard folks, but i honestly believe we need to confront the uncomfortable if we are to prevent bad situations from happening.
to console ourselves is ok as long as we're looking objectively at our situation and striving for improvement.
care of animals is a major concern of mine, and in that light i thought i'd share with you one of my freshman essays.

I've been on both sides of this one. I feel bad for MT & her loss, because I've lost pets myself. I've also run ober animals in the road. If it comes down to a choice between my own survival and that of a stray animal, I'll keep my car rolling forward rather than flipping into the ditch.

"I am going to let you off with a warning...just remember you're not in Mass anymore Sen. Kennedy"
That kinda goes without saying as long as the car is upright and on dry land.
Speaking of which ... have you ever had a Chappaquiddick Coctail? You start out with three shots of Scotch and add some murky water ... -

Where Is The Ultimate Truth Found?
by JamesThomas inthere is much discussion here about the bible.
some might see that after hundreds of years of argument and controversy no two people interpret the damn thing exactly the same, and so they have acquired the wisdom to abandon it.
there is a story which goes like this: .

"Where Is The Ultimate Truth Found?" At the bottom of a bottle .. probably tequila. Or a campfire. Truth lies in marshmallows.

I'm thinking about going back to college, any advice?
by zagor ini think it would be great final chapter in my healing process, and would love to catch up with my life anyway (most of guys of my generation have finished it long ago and have kids).
i'm interested in science and engineering, but i'm afraid my mind my have become too dull over many years of brain washing.
social sciences sound great too but im not sure if i like them enough to pursue such degree to the end.

1. Smoke some good stuff. Join a fraternity ... preferably one of the burner ones. Inhale.
2. Whatever you choose, drop it after 3 semesters. Switch majors. Look around & see which transfer will get the most credits towards a degree. Grab on! -

Music that debases
by katiekitten inwhich albums did you throw out after that landmark talk at an assembly round about the mid 80's?.

I used to drive away from congregation picnics with AC/DC's "Highway to Hell" playing from my 8-track. Maybe that explains a few things.

Generation of 1914 gone!
by Gill inis the generation that saw 1914, now dead and gone?.
if they were born in 1900, they'd be 105 now and there are not many of these people left.. if they were born in 1914 they'd be 91 and there are not many of these left either.. can we say that the early light of russell and rutherford, and nathor knowrr is well and truly disproved?.
can we say it's just a matter of time before the new light is also disproved?.

"Rather than having parameters of time limitations or any set starting point, the "generation" is instead said t be identified, not temorally, but qualityely, by its chracteristics, as in the ferenece to an "evil adn adulterous generation" in Jesus' time. " this generation" is now said to be "the peoples of earth who see the sign of Christ's presence but fail to mend their wasy."...."
Yu mean it's not a literal generation of people who shall not pass before these things come?
Surely, this will stumble me. :-P -

Is there something wrong with me?
by ChrisVance ini just read david_10's thread "my mother died..." 13 years ago i called my mother, after i had left the lie because i'm gay.
i hadn't been disfellowshipped at that point, but she told me she didn't want to keep in contact because "being homosexual is one of the worst things.
" i told her ok and have never tried to contact her again.
-
Dan-O
I'm not gay. But my mother used to be a Dub. And she asked me once upon a time how Mrs.O & I were going to raise our children ... Mrs. O being Catholic, and me not being one ... a good question. It was one I neeed to face.
Maybe the years have erased some of her ideas. Maybe they have re-inforced them.
You won't know until you dig a little. The answers may not be easy. But the answers you discover will tell you something about yourself. And I think that's important.
