the doctrinal crap really pisses her off, especially because of what it does to families.. i did have a family member who was molested many years ago but do not know the details nor the outcome.

Now and then my husband will ask questions as to what I believe (or used to believe). For example I would tell him about the issue of universal soverignty and the battle between god and satan or why we don't take blood, etc. After I tell him what the JW's believe he would look at me incredulously and say "you really believed that?" I respond -- well I didn't know any better. LOL

Has anyone found dating as an EX JW difficult?

just curious as to what difficulties have faced people dating as an ex jw.

myself, i have noticed the glazed over look in a guy's eyes when you try to explain why your family doesn't celebrate the holidays with you etc.

new to this board, so if this has been well covered before, please forgive me.

My husband understands that my family is crazy and f*cked up. Although I really don't think he "got it" in the beginning. I have been out for 6 years and I still have some hang ups. He is very understanding and takes things in stride. We are both saddened that we are missing out on "normal" family relationship as my parents live pretty close by, yet we never see them.

What does your city/town smell like??

while on vacation, we drove through amarillo.

the smell of cattle was everywhere.

for the citizens of amarillo, texas, that is the smell of money.. in my town, we have the nearby paper mill, weyerhaeuser.

In the evenings the area around my house smells like cows (there is a dairy nearby). The rest of the town doesn't really have a distinct smell that I can name. I think the smell changes with the seasons. It just smells like home (if that makes sense).

mom called me, she got my letter.

I don't know what I feel? I'm still trying to wrap my tiny little brain around this.

Oh yeah, I have a messed up family too. So you are not alone. I am currently in therapy to "get my brain around this" as well. My mother is insane (I truly believe clinically insane) and it is so difficult to deal with. Like changeling said -- a mother is supposed to love you unconditionally. It is hard to fathom that they don't. I am a mother myself and could never EVER shun my daughter (even as crazy as she makes me at times). I have to just think that my mother is (in addition to being insaned brainwashed and being controlled. That is the only way to get my head around it.

Sorry you have to go through this too.

A question for the women...

ok so here is the deal, i'm only 23 and get my period maybe once every three months, normally i feel really sick before i get it for example this time i felt really dizzy for about three days and felt like i was going to vomit all weekend, i just got my period today after 3/4 months.

i'm wondering if i'm the only one on here that is so irregular and how normal/abnormal something like this is for someone my age.. .

I am pretty sure we live in the same area. I have the BEST doctor in the world and not only is she a GP, she is also an OB/GYN. PM me if you are interested in her name.

I have known other females that had irregular periods (maybe three a year), but I never remember them saying they were sick before hand. Definitely something that should be checked out by a doctor.

hubby told jw mother i'm pregnant ....

so i'm 11wks pregnant (hooray!

) and hubby has been undecided whether to even bother telling his jw lot about it as they are shunning me (d'ad) and have hardly anything to do with him or kiddies.. anyway he was away yesterday and she rang him just to find out train times (only reason she ever rings cos she wants him to fiddle her cheap tickets), he said 'by the way youre gonna have another grandchild soon' what did she say was she pleased did she say congratulations?hell no!

"oh right" then silence, then "well i won't be allowed to see it anyway will i seen as d's d'ad herself".

i know i shouldn't be surprised at her really, but i though maybe somewhere in there might be a heart!

I go through this every time I deal with my mother. I always think things are getting better and I have a shred of hope for a normal relationship; then BAM she blindsides me with something from JW land. So just know it happens to others from time to time.

Congrats on the pregnancy. Please take care of yourself and that baby!
