Hi Watergodess, I love the name! It sounds so beachy. Welcome! It is a nice place to come and "talk", although I haven't posted here in a while. I've been busy getting involved in the "Holiday Spirit". It's been alot of fun. Last nite we went to "jingle Ball" in NYC. My hubby suprised us with a Limo to go there. It was Awesome. I hope to meet you and Ash one day. We live in the same area, and know a lot of the same people. Maybe even stop in during the Holidays for a drink.

I had heard the Society is telling the R&F that the reason they are ending the mail subs is because of ANTHRAX (hahahahahahahahahaha} Has anyone else heard this?

Hi Ash, I don't get the magazines anymore. But many of the people pictured in them come from the area surrounding Bethel, usually from the congregations that accomadate the bethelites coming out to the congregations. Nauseating!

Negative Reinforcement of World View
by Ranchette inhello everyone,.
i have had alot of surprises this past year since leaving the organization.it was scary at first.. one thing in particular i have realized recently is how much i subconsciencely reinforced the wts negative view of the world when i was a witness.. for example,i used to watch more negative tv programs which convinced me that the jws were right.shows such as 911,cops,true crime stories, new detectives, unsolved mysterys,cnn.....on and on.. i still like these shows and see nothing wrong with them.i can just see that i never watched anything positive when i was a jw.. or when i heard some tragedy i dwelt on it but ignored positive things.. just before i quit going to meetings i started looking at the world with new eyes.. it was very strange and confusing at first to see things more clearly.. we were taught that the word is wicked and there are just a few good people.. i have found the complete opposite to be true.. the good in this world far out ways the bad.. does anyone understand what i am saying?.

Ranchette, I feel exactly as you do about the negative way JW's view everything in life. Isn't it funny how they use the term "negative talk" when they tell you they don't want to hear what you have to say? Looking back when I think about all the horrendous pictures visually and verbally that they depict in thier literature it is more evil and ungodly than what they say the "world" and thier traditions are all about. The WTC Tragedy truly brought home this thought for me when I watched humanity become the best of the best toward one another. Even in other countries.

Hi Ranchette, I messed up this Post. I tried to repost but it wouldn't go through. Anyway. Yes I am having such a wonderful time Ranchie. My hubby and I spent the week hanging beautiful lights in the back yard. We made a blue "pond" with white sparkle lights to look like water reflecting. Then we placed 2 dear by it, and hung some various lights on the trees. On our holly bush we put "red berry" pearl lights, on our grape arbor we hung garland and white lights, and we also put up some beautiful bright colored spheres hanging from a birch tree. We also lit a 20 foot blue spruce with white lights. It looks like a winter wonderland in Disney!!! What a joyful time we are having recapturing our minds our hearts and our spirituality. Last night I stayed up late making a little lit up village comeplete with ice skaters and sparkle "snow", and we put garland over the fireplace with lights. Today we will be doing the front of the house. I can imagine the reaction of the witnesses. They are shunning us anyway so we have nothing to lose. We have been forming such wonderful friendships with people who do not judge us based on our allegiance to Watchtower. This year has truly been a recapturing of old traditions. We will be going to a neighborhood anual Holiday party this weekend and it feels so good not making any pretenses about being a JW. What a beautiful time of the year. Enjoy it Ranchie. Love, Aroarer

Christendom will NEVER hit the mark!
by Yadirf inhere's a representation of how many times that christendom has hit the bullseye with regards to knowing what the bible teaches.
she teaches that man has an immortal soul; that heaven is the only destiny of the "saved" (no paradise earth then); that jesus and his father are co-eternal/equal (that jesus had no beginning); they say that what jacob and his mother did was bad; political envolvement (part of the world); loves pagan holidays; thinks that god produced the star of bethlehem;thinks that the commission to preach only applies to the clergy and not to the laity; etc., etc., etc.. .
christendom considers herself to be christ's representatives.

Y, your picture looks more like the target practice of the governing body trying to come up with the bullseye for the real "new light". Oh I forgot they are just "imperfect men". Guess we could use that lame excuse on all religions and follow basic rule of human kindness. Your depiction shows the mean spiritedness that the JW's show towards all others not of them. Intolerance and the wish for death and destruction of others not of their own. Geesh sounds like the Taliban to me.

Christmas
by ARoarer inhey everyone, i am thinking of having a tree this year for the very first time since i stopped going to the kh.
although i am not disfellowshipped and i have not written a letter to disassociate, the closest friends i have had over the years as a witness have all chosen to avoid me and my family unless we return to the hall.
unofficial shunning by those who we have loved.

Thankyou all for the thoughts about Christmas. Mommy Dark I love your thinking, Xena, Judith, Mom, everyone. I also have thought of some of the concerns that Tom has raised. The situation with my family will definitely be affected if the elders come. They have nothing better to do with thier lives. I am taking the beginning steps to recaputure my mind, my heart and my spirituality, new and healthy ways. Farkel mentioned in a post on Christmas, another view, how dysfunctional the Watchtower views are. Family values and connections are totally distorted and twisted. I am so glad to have seen this. Yes the lessons learned from the experiences in WT have been painful but better to have suffered the lessons and learn and heal then to stay within the corporate religion that strips its members of every shred of identity, and family connectedness. I have seen first hand the way family has been ravaged by WT's demand for corporate loyalty and secrecy. Yet I am grateful for the endurance and strength I and my family have learned from it. I have learned what evil is and goodness is not. I think this time of year will be healing whatever level I choose to participate in. Again thankyou all for sharing your thoughts.

'Christmas' - (another view)
by Farkel inin the "christmas" thread, aroarer asked this:.
: ...have researched christmas in a new way and have come to realize it is not as evil as wt teaches.
the real ugliness is the wt.

Fark,
I like your view of Christmas and am glad you are now celebrating it with a vengeance!. Yes it is time for me and my family to recapture our minds our hearts and our spirituality. Exploring the things the publishing corporation forbade us to do. Yes, you are absolutely right Farkel. Jehovah's Witnesses have truly sold thier souls to the corporation. The Alter of the Mindless, Heartless Corporate High Priests. I choose the family connections, future newly made traditions, wonderful sights and smells and the look on childrens faces. No more dysfunction.
