Any of you worked for Primerica? My experience at their "seminar."

a few weeks ago, a brother called me out of the blue and asked me if i was interested in working for him.

he told me he had his own business and was looking to "expand.

" he told me i "was a special person" with "good qualities" and "capable of going places.

If any of you aren't familiar with Primerica, it is basically a dubious pyramid multi level marketing company.

Ahhh, the wonderful world of multi-level marketing . Well, let's see. I have been pushed, cajoled, falsely flattered, lied to, and buttered up to try and get me to sell Primerica, Amway, LifePlus, Blue Green Algea, Sunshine Herbs, Melaleuca (sp?), Noni Juice, Golden Eagle coins, and Alpine air purifiers (those are just the ones that I can remember). Most of these schemes were offered to me by "Brothers". What a bunch of flim flam artists.

My favorite offer was from my brother-in-law (an elder in Ft. Lauderdale, FL who, at the time, was giving talks at the circuit and district level) who is/and was quite enamored with himself. He told me about a "can't miss" scheme to sell vitamin and mineral compounds from a company called LifePlus and also, as an added bonus to me, he was going to let me market the Alpine Air Purifiers too. When I politely declined the offer, he told me I was lazy and he accused of not wanting to provide for my family. Poor brother-in-law's greed was showing and he couldn't even see it. What really got me laughing was that he told me with a straight face that the reason he wanted to get rich from the multi-level marketing was so that he could Pioneer...bwahahahahahahahahahahaha!m It is amazing how the JW's seem to gravitate toward those ~~scams~~ opportunities.

There's a really good article in the magazine...

what always blew my mind was that whenever an article in the watchtower, awake, or any wt publication is when someone refers to a part of the publication and says, "there's a really good article in here about bla bla bla".

i've heard many jws use it at the doors, use it at the kingdom hall, etc.

my question is, when is there ever a bad article?

nice forum by the way but honestly and with all due respect it is not something i would like to be associated with.

i joined saying "oh cool a jw forum" but after reading just 2 posts i realized it is the black veil all over again.

high school reunion coming up....

vicki and i are off to our high school reuion this weekend i cannot wait to see so many faces..... i am a little ticked that it was such a last second thing, as they could not locate us...other wise i would have been on a kick to drop 20lbs...you know the regular girl thing....so i guess they will see me my true best, weight and all....... many will be shocked to see that we are no longer jws, and can party with the best of them now...and that we have turned out normal... morty

Go. You might be surprised. When I went to mine; the former cheerleaders had gotten ugly. The football jocks didn't look too hot either. However....the former plain janes, wallflowers, overweight ones and those otherwise forgotten years ago looked smashing!!!! Go figure...

It's called poetic justice...or Karma.

Great News, Employment Up

that lagging indicator of employment is silencing the "jobless recovery" critics, in the last two months (march and april) 600,000+ new jobs created, and the january and febraury figures are up.

By the way...you mentioned the veiled screen names on the board and how they bothered you. H is the street name for Heroin, so I am on to your veiled reference no matter how you try to disguise it[our little secret] LOL!)

We will meet when the end comes or whatever it is you believe, and that will prove what will really happen, lets leave it as that.

If you are going to wait for the "End" according to the Faithful And Discreet Slave's time schedule, I am afraid that you and I will be long gone and mere dust in the ground before we meet, because they have not gotten a date for the end to come right yet, and I am afraid that they have failed again.

Does it not trouble you that they have "adjusted" their view on the "Generation"? The light is getting murkier and murkier as the end draws near. I feel bad that you, another young person that should be enjoying his life, has dedicated his life to a bag full of empty promises. Alas, I realize that you are doing what you think to be right, but you at least owe yourself the time to "make sure of all things and hold fast to what is fine" before you sacrafice yourself on the altar of the Watchtower Bible And Tract Society. Investigate and prove to yourself that you have dedicated yourself to a worthy cause. You had the guts and strength to come on this board and state your position...use that strength to test it.

believe me, despite some of my comments about religion and my feelings about the bible, i do examine myself and my thinking process all of the time.

i really do think deeply about my life and the lives of my family, and i really try to examine how i feel.

That is simply an answer to your own question. I still say no.

No, actually, it was an answer to the answer you gave. your answer contained no supporting information, because there isn't any, nor a foundation with which to build. If the answer is still just no then I would respond with: Then I can pick up any book of unproven, or dubious, origin and declare it God's Word. That is preposterous.

What about a beginning? - perhaps an "end of the world as you know it" - like those who realise they have "heard his word" - "he does not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life".

Again, you did not answer my response to your question, although I did respond to yours. You avoid the response by engaging in circular reasoning. The bible even refers to prophecy being written for the "End". Yes there is, at least according to the bible, a new beginning after the end...but much prophecy still refers to the end...that is it's function according to the bible, at least for the prophesies that are for the "end time".

The "better part" of me recognized JW's as the "Truth" at one time. I was misled. The same pitfalls exist with a "prophet". End of point. But that is fine if you want to pick a prophet that way. I just have learned from my mistakes. exjdub
