It really irritates me too when the restauranters try to sqeeze a bit more profit out of the customer by using cheaper ingredients when they already have very good mark ups.

Cook at home or eat out?
by greendawn indo you know how to cook, even just a few simple recipes, or do you hate the idea of home cooking and prefer to always rely on restaurants and take aways, or just prepare easy snacks like sandwiches and melted cheese on toast?

Do you think perfection is boring?
by ballistic infrom the perspective of this imperfect world, seeing something perfect would seem quite amazing.
such as the omega particle or whatever it was called in star trek.. but what if you lived in a world (or heaven for that matter) where everything was so perfect that it was extremely predictable, and there was never any point in trying to improve anything or fight for a cause and everyone always had the perfect answer for you?.
maybe that's why "god" created the universe and maybe the universe is a perfect way of experiencing randomness?

Even in a perfect world people will have to learn new things and not everything will be predictable, there will be a certainty in peace and security but that's not a cause of boredom.

My Mother
by funes ini was disfellowshipped when i was 16, it really isn't clear because i stopped going to meetings, left home, etc.
i was 28 before i truly stopped believing and have grown to love every day of life i've had the privilege to live.
my mother was a missionary, my brother lives at one of the farms, one of my sisters is a special pioneer overseas and my other sister is a special pioneer in the states.. .

I personally can't see why you should stress yourself out so much, compromise your dignity and beg these worthless people for anything, if your mother wants to see her grandchild then she just ignores what her other children tell her.

Are Bethelites more likely to leave the JWs than others?
by Gill inhave you any experience of families whose sons have gone off to bethel and then decided to not have any more contact with their family and jws at all very soon after returning?.
i ask this question because i know of two families where this has been the case.. the first family had three sons who one after the other went to the london bether to 'serve' within a couple of years of eachother.. after three years there all three returned home completely different people.
they then left home, left dub land, two married non jws and another lives with his girlfriend.

I once heard one Bethelite say to another If you don't want to be under their thumb you should consider pioneering so perhaps he was not happy with being at Bethel.

Religious persons in cults and mainstream.
by greendawn inwhat is it that makes a religious person within a serious religion eg catholic or lutheran different to a religious person in a cult such as the jws?
how is it that a religious catholic or lutheran doesn't become abnormal emotionally whereas a jw does suffer serious imbalances and consequences?
perhaps ex jws that joined a mainstream religion and experienced both worlds can better tell the difference.

One point I wish to make is that the Catholic relies on the mysteries of the Church to a great extent for salvation whereas the JW has the entire burden of his salvation squarely on his own shoulders. -

It would be also interesting to know who writes all the articles in the books, magazines, plus the weekly and all other talks, and who is drawing up the myriad of silly rules and regulations that oppress 6 million people. Is it these ten people that do it all?

At what speed are you comfortable driving on the highway?
by JH inhere in canada, it's maximum 100 km/h or 62 mph.
thats not fast enough for us quebecers.
we like driving atlest at 120km/h or 75 mph when the conditions are perfect.

I can't understand why the motorway (Highway) speed limit is so low in the USA since these roads are made for driving at high speeds and 70-80 MPH is perfectly safe even at night.

How did Fred Franz get control of the lives of so many?
by theotherside ini use fred franz as a scapegoat because he was the main so called scholar, author and doctrine creator of the society 4 many decades.
he along with the gb manipulated so many lives by the teachings they laid down that had 2 be accepted ( no blood, no holidays, no birthday celebrations no career-----*** w68 8/15 p. 508 what can i do?
***possibly you are now employed in some kind of secular job.

He got so much control because like Russell and Rutherford before him he was smart at playing clever mind games and manipulating the naive and ignorant JW masses with endless lies and omissions, in telling what he knew well to be the truth. Good doctor spins.
