In a high control cult group you will invariably have trouble if you are outspoken against the group's beliefs, at best you will be marginalised they will be saying he/she is not a good brother/sister and they will never look at you with a straight face. If you carry on eventually they will put stronger pressure on you to leave or directly expel you. No good for people that like a free debate society.
This was my experience, their belief system is so rotten if freely criticised it will fall apart very quickly and the WTS will be gone.
So to keep their millions of slave workers(that's their real intention)they suprees free debate under the guise of "preventing divisions in God's own people" and they even present a biblical verse twisted as usually to support their position.

WTS wealth/assets how to be shared?
by greendawn inimagine a situation were the jw org is burst assunder with all the rank and file members leaving and then entering into a legal dispute with the wts over the assets issue: they want to claim most of it because they are the ones that really made it with their unpaid work and conributions in money or property.
they want to have the wts and all its daughter corporations.
on the other hand the wts the shareholders, the directors, will claim that the assets legally belong to them, they can boast of a legally protected ownership over them, they are registered in their name and they should keep everything.

When I read on this board or other websites comments on the GB members from ex Bethelites who personally met them they are invariable very negative, not at all according to the image they project outwards to the rank and file.
So who knows perhaps they will openly rebel. -

i made arrangements to stay with some friends and they even lined me up a summer job.
i snuck out in the middle of the night and left my parents a note.

I was baptised in 1979 became inactive after 13 months in 1980 and disassociated in 1987. The reasons doctrinal disagreements, few in 1981 and many more in 1987, I also strongly disliked the totalitarian leadership of this org.and how they hated all constructive criticism and the lack of brotherly love.
Wasn't quite sure about certain things when I left but some years later the internet confirmed my worst suspicions for them, the FDS was indeed after all a big con artist and this org was a real cult liberally lying to, subtly manipulating and exploiting its followers. -

Bookstudy Group Disbanded......haha
by Mary ini just got word that the bookstudy attendance in one of the groups at my hall has dwindled off to numbers so pitiful that they're dissolving this particular bookstudy group and splitting up the remainder and shipping them out to other bookstudy groups.

Java I didn't realise that the society controlled the elders so tightly and you had to be formally dressed in book studies even at home. Real control freaks.
I hardly ever attended these since two boring meetings per week was already more than enough. -

Neo Babylonian History....Everyone is Wrong! Ignore the Data!

Isn't strange how they throw out everyone that disagrees with them (as they did to COJ)instead of sitting down to explain their positions face to face eg through their CO reps.
That 1914 date was based on history as it was known in the early 19th century and since then many discoveries have changed things, it happens often in history and chronology.
However they desperately need it to carry on with the urgency of times concept, which is crucial to their ablity to control and exploit the dubs. Take away the imminent end idea and they will fall apart. I am sure they know 1914 is wrong as much as everyone else. -

Odrade even by their reckoning 214 cholesterol is nothing especially if you don't smoke.
My mother who is 70 Y.O. and has had over 300 units for years, had a thorough heart test recently and she was totally clear. I have 240 and my doctor said you should take lipitor to reduce it but I said no way. The best way is to eat plenty of fresh fruit and veg (I love garlic BTW) avoid processed food, eat oily fish once a week and exercise. Nothing wrong with some butter, eggs, and meat. Doctors take commissions to sell lipitor and other statins. -
