The reasoning in that story is so damn primitive: men will love god only if he gives them good things, as if this is something wrong.
Why should men love God in case he doesn't give them good things in life if he neglects them or even harms them without reason? In such a case they have the right not to love him, something this myth refuses to accept.
But in practice God doesn't demand unconditional love from mankind and Job is the myth of another primitive and ignorant semitic tribe.

The killing of Job's family...
by Hecklerboy ini'm having a conversation with a couple of people in my office as i type this.
i'm asking the question "why did god allow satan to kill job's family?
" i told them that to say he did it to prove job's faithfullness and that he got even more in return for his faithfulness is not a good enough answer.

WTS and charity?
by gringojj inmy sister in law was going to have her electricity shut off and she brought her notice to catholic charities and they paid it for her.
makes me wonder would the wts do the same?
are they known to do anything charitable besides spreading the good news?
-
greendawn
The WTS clearly is not charitable despite its billions, otherwise it would be known by now as such. This was one of the things that got me on the way out of there it was strange how they were always demanding so much from the JWs but they were giving nothing in return (if we ignore their so called spiritual food that is poison rather than food).Even people who were faithful Jws for many years received nothing and that's not the Christian spirit.
AS for the article that talks about being charitable that's down right hypocritical, since they don't give the good example in the first place the R&F will ignore that.
In the end this org has the soul and character of a big business and as such charity is the last thing they want to hear about as it deducts from the profits. -

Hi everybody, I´m a new member from Spain
by benito infirst of all, i want to apologize for all the mistakes i will probably make, i m not very good at english, it s very hard for me to think in another language different than my native tongue (spanish, of course!!)..
i ve been lurking through this forum for a long time but i didn t dare write here because of my lack of knowledge of the language but i changed my mind.
i think i can give a different point of view from other members of usa of uk, it seems that most of the members are from theses countries.

Welcome Benito, you need not be anxious about your English it's not your mother language so you have the right to make mistakes, but you hardly made any.
Perhaps you can tell us what made you leave the Watchtower Society. Here you can always find support from many interesting people. -

Welcome Susu, as time passes and the real character of the Watchtower Society, inevitably, gets increasingly exposed more and more people turn away from it, even the young kids that grew up as JWs are leaving in droves. After their admission, however artful, about the error on the 1914 generation thing, their sails lost a lot of wind.Soon only the totally naive will be staying there.
There are now in the world more ex JWs than JWs,and here on this board you will find a lot of support from great individuals. You can also find lots of good web sites with revealing info about the WTS on the internet using a search engine. -

Everlasting Life--The Carrot Put Before the Public
by blondie ini was looking over the article just before next sunday's study article.. taking in knowledge now and forever.
the attraction is living forever.. a few statements show the trend of the article.. a compelling reason to be selective about knowledge is that our present life span is so shrt.. you realize that you will simply not live long enough to do so.. could a field of knowledge be available that will prolong life significantly, even forever?.
please read the next article, which will offer you the prospect of taking in knowledge forever.. still, he does not promise his readers that they could literally live forever.. however, there is one kind of knowledge that does promise everlasting life.. conversely, if you did live forever, you could take in useful knowledge forever.. john 17:3. let us first define the term "everlasting life.".

The FDS being the means to reveal God's wisdom that's a joke, in words or actions where do we see the wisdom from above? In reckless failed prophecies that painfully dashed many people's hopes, ever changing and flip-flopping dogma, lust for power, conceit that does not allow correction of faulty thinking?
Biblically:
"...the wisdom from above is first of all chaste, then peaceful, reasonable, easy to be entreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and hypocrisy"
Does that match the behaviour of the FDS? No they are instead full of bitter envy and strife. -

Everlasting life is indeed the major lure offered by the fraudulent WTS package and it is forever hovering tantalisingly in the distance but always beyond their reach. Can anyone secure this by being a loyal member of their sect with its loathsome totalitarian spirit and the thousands of families it has ruined?
But isn't their version of everlasting life a statement of profound ignorance? Does the Bible say anywhere that there will be everlasting life on earth in human bodies of the nature we have at present that need to eat, drink, have sex? -

Who know's about the founder of the JW being seventhday adventitous
by mormon 4 life ini was told that he was that's why thye have the same doctrine.........................................
-
greendawn
As far as I know Russell having left the Presbyterians first and then the congregationalists, he associated with various adventist groups and was influenced greatly by Wendell, Storrs and Stetson. But he later developped some ideas that were at variance with the adventists and thus broke off and formed his own group around 1880.

WTS upper echelons.
by greendawn indoes any one know who writes all the wts literature?
books pamphlets, magazines?
i heard there is a writing department consisting of about 200 individuals.
-
greendawn
I wish to thank everyone for their input, however when it comes to the issue of the writing department I still think that use of the non annointed at a time when there are so many annointed is against their own rules and it is also very revealing about their true nature. Why not invite 200 out of the 8000 annointed to make up the writing department or even better why not invite all of the annointed to make an input into the spiritual kitchen of the JWs?
The answer is simple, the GB can't afford having others interfering in the way they run things so in essence they have gagged the annointed because they know that if they had a voice most of the 8000 would object to their way of doing things and that would destroy their prestige and status as well as their form of government over the Jws. Contrary to their dogma they prefer to use a number of non annointed yes men who are part of their circle and easily controlled.
So top power in the WTS will always be highly centralised in the hands of a few envious, power intoxicated men. Historically it was first Rutherford then Knorr and Franz then the 10-18 GB members. They all paid lip service to the rights of the annointed even claiming to represent them but who chose them to be their representatives when they (the GB)don't contact them about anything whatsoever? There are no checks and balances against abuse of authority or even unintentional mistakes when formulating doctrine. -

There is no graceful way to back out ...
by ljwtiamb ini find it interesting that the chickens have come home to roost for wts.. just as they have allowed no dignified way to exit the org, without disgrace, there seems to be no way for them to gracefully apologize for past (errors???).
just think of the recent mass exodus of faithful that has come about with each major doctrine change.
so many have been ruined by devoting their lives to the gb, that even if there was a sincere effort to correct things, i believe that the vast majority of the current membership would just revolt.. it's just a matter of time before the entire house of cards comes tumbling down.. so, whaddya think?.
-
greendawn
There seems to be an objective impression that the JW kids are leaving the org in large numbers because they feel deeply disappointed with what they get from it. Their retention rate is very low.
The WTS has to change enormously to survive but it simply can't due to its nature, it's too rotten, and so it will soon be ancient history. -

JWs And Ex-JWs--Do You Struggle With Depression Because You Were A JW?
by minimus ini've seen how some are so burdened by the fact that they were witnesses, that literally, every day is a struggle.
are you in need of therapeutic help because you are or were a jehovah's witness?
-
greendawn
I had problems as a Jw but after leaving things settled down well within a year or two, as I could be myself, have a girlfriend, think about my own interests rather than those of a collective that would never help me or any other member.
It helped that I never truly believed many of their trashy ideas.
I must note here that I find it tragic and strange that despite the so many ex JWs in the world, nothing was ever organised to help those coming out of that babylon to recover more quickly.
Some people somewhere must undertake an initiative at some time to stop ex JWs from suffering passively in isolation.
