As far as I know the fossil record shows species appearing suddenly with no intermediate forms as postulated by the evolutionists. Crustaceans appear as crustaceans and at the next level fish appear as fish, and there are millions of fossils of these creatures.
JW83 the idea about the circularity of life has no evidence to back it. Did life on earth always (eternally) exist? Did the earth eternally exist?

Banning Alcohol
by moanzy ini think the society should ban drinking.
anyone caught drinking should be disfellowshipped.
would anyone have family left in the org if they did that?
-

Could it be that some people at the top like drinking? There is also a tradition in this society for heavy drinking going back to Rutherford who was almost certainly an alcoholic, and maybe they find it hard to break tradition. Or it's just the need for a safety valve to let off steam in a very high pressure environment.
It's indeed strange that heavy drinking (and also child abuse) are tolerated in a very conservative society like this. -

Have pity upon these unfortunate people they are under so much emotional strain all the time due to their religion (cult)and all the burdens it places on them plus the general grim existence, and alcohol is their only release.
If only the WTS was a loving mother organisation. -

Advising those getting caught in the JW nets.
by greendawn inif someone feels attracted to the jws to the point of beginning a bible study with them what sort of advice,if any, would you give them at this early stage before she/he gets hopelessly mind conditioned and entangled in their nets?
.
i would base my response on the principle that one should first carefully check out the way they (the wts)treat their followers before getting intimately involved with them.

Yes it is vital to know the history of a religion you may wish to join as it would be to know the past of a person you may want to become intimate friends with.
And the sooner the bible study is given revealing information about the JWs the better, hardhitting truths like broken families and suicides caused by disfellowshipping will always have impact. -

The Truth Hurts The Most
by minimus inwhat's the best way to get to people to expose the watchtower's lies??
tell the truth.
point out how jws are a cult.

As mentioned further up this thread the JWs are not even allowed to talk with ex members, precisely because their leaders don't want them to hear these truths, it's all political to protect the very shaky position of their dogmas and therein their own authority. This ferocious prohibition on talking with ex JWs is a reflection of a hopelessly weak ideology that can very easily be taken apart by someone well informed.
There are many hard hitting truths, but how do you get them across? I even wonder why there was no uproar when the 1914 generation admission came out from the leaders themselves. That was one big 80 year long lie. -

Beth-Sarim/Beth-Shan
by TweetieBird ini love this site.
you learn something new everyday.
another thread caused me to do a search on beth-sarim and i stumbled across a great article that farkel wrote.

The Beth Sarim goes to show how much out of touch with reality Rutherford (a delusional alcoholic)was, and how foolish it is to be in an organisation where his influence on its dogma and overall mindset is paramount.

Richie I think we can give them information about the WTS in a way that will not draw them to it but rather away from it as for example enlightening people on their history details with all its false prophecies and dogmatic flip flops, or the dictatorial way they treat dissenters, or their dogma that most JWs can't have Christ as their Mediator and the annointing of the Holy Spirit, etc
I would love to argue with JWs and kill their bible studies with such issues because it would stop them from thriving on people's ignorance. They will realise where they are well informed they can't get any interest and make any headway. -

Transference of delusions
by Satanus intransference of delusional feelings/beliefs.
the danger of destroying delusions.
this has been mentioned before, and i think it's worthwhile to have it's own thread.

The WTS is very good at introducing ideas directly into the subconscious mind bypassing people's awareness and depriving them of the possibility to objectively evaluate them.
When later we want to delete these ideas we need to bring them up to consciousness to alter and destroy them and the negative emotional energies associated with them and if this is not done in a complete way something can continue to remain in the subconscious and poison our mood.
What were the silent assumptions contained in the WTS ideology that got away from our detection and evaluation? If we get rid of them entirely then we get rid of all their poisonous influences. -

Am I wrong to feel this way
by stillajwexelder ini am supposed to love being with the brothers at the kh.
i can not wait to post on this board.
i prefer the intellectual emotional stimulation of the people on this board.
-
greendawn
Still, it sounds to me that you are of the type of people that need intellectual activity and stimulation and certainly the KH or even the JW environment in general can not provide this.
Indeed it is not even an emotionally gratifying one since there is no brotherly love and affection to be found there and the quality of spiritual activity is also poor as it depends exclusively on a handful of ignorant and big headed old men in Brooklyn who believe that they know everything and can't tolerate advice or input from anyone outside their tiny inner circle.
A very empty and dreary place indeed there is basically nothing there. In essence that's why I left.
