They are gradually over the years loosening up the prohibition they want to do away with it totally but are afraid of the legal consequences and also that they can lose a lot of their members if they backtrack totally.
Giving the new light non sense as a justification will not do for an explosive issue like this.

Would You Feel Safe Visiting A Muslim Country?
by Englishman in..just wondering.. i'd thought of maybe visiting somewhere like turkey later this year.
i believe it's absolutely stunning.
plus, the people are said to be very pleasant too.

Turkey though a Muslin country is reasonably safe for western tourists and many Europeans go there because it is cheap.
Only beware with some of the restauranters who have no menus and agree with you verbally to a certain price before you order. When time comes to pay they give a very different price and they say oh this is what we agreed to, you must have misheard I never quoted that price. They should have menus with prices to begin with. -

WTS Recognizes that Millions have Left the Faith
by Bluegrass Tom inat the portland maine district convention that was held this past weekend, brother buck from brooklyn bethel gave the last talk on sunday.
in this talk he mentioned the "millions of people that have left" in the recent past.
he also mentioned them in the concluding prayer.

This was the inevitable result of their incompetence in running an org as complex as this let's remember they have always been too arrogant to accept advice from anyone and being themselves so incapable they messed up a lot of people's lives.

2 JWs Sent Registered Letters For "APOSTASY"
by minimus ini was told that 2 "anointed" witnesses that had recently (on the night of the memorial) picketed in front of the kingdom hall were sent registered letters inviting them to a judicial committee meeting.
the husband had told the elders when they first called last week that the elders should call off the meeting because his wife had once again had major tremors and had to be hospitalized due to being sent the letter.
and that the elders should realize that they would surely get legal action against them if anything happened to his wife.

This is interesting since the non annointed elders were called by the GB to judge these two annointed JWs it shows that the GB don't accept criticism from anyone and have respect for no one.

The JW religion is in fact a dangerous cult and you should all keep out of it, if your husband to be is inactive then he should just stay that way keep his distance from the cult, and on the other hand there is is no need to say things openly that will get him disfellowshipped if he dosn't want that.

Which Is Better?
by MerryMagdalene inwe naturally desire acceptance and deplore rejection but which is better--.
--to be rejected for what you are?.
--to be accepted for what you are not?.

It's a question of personal identity and if one has to identify with what one feels is not true to his nature then that is an aweful price to pay to have an identity, whereas an adaptation to a true identity even if painful at first it is the only one that can lead to a creative life.
There ia a need here to disolve old unproductive attachments and create new productive ones.

I wish you all the best, it would have been great if there were a lot more of these protests organised world wide so as to increase awareness in the community of what the WTS is and what they really stand for.

JW College Girl Getting DF'd For Going To Mormons For Love
by minimus inthe new talk in the hall per my mom is that a twenty something year old sister is getting disfellowshipped because she's been attending the mormon church because she found a nice mormon boy that is interested in her.
since there are no jw eligible men around, she has gone over to the other side and will pay for it with the announcement soon.
word is---she just "needs" to get married.
-
greendawn
It looks as though the Mormon guy made the stronger case and took her over to his side. That's what really upsets the JWs even though the two orgs seem to have a lot in common.
