In fact they weren't forecasting the beginning of the end of times at that date but the very end of this world, that is Armageddon. When it failed to happen Russell and his followers were ridiculed by everyone and exposed as false prophets. The WTS deceiptfully claims that they had forecast the beginning of the end of times as starting in 1914.

World War Zero Started in 1904
by proplog2 inthe watchtower still clings to 1914 as the date of christ's return.
ray franz has reported how even n h knorr was unsure of the 1914 date and that other members of the governing body had their doubts.
conveniently, world war i began in 1914. that single fact has kept the 1914 date alive.

Anointed disfellowshipping replacement reinstatement
by gringojj inan elders wife told my wife today that yes there are young anointed people because they are replacements for those who have fallen away.
she also said that if an anointed should fall away and then get reinstated they are still anointed.
i can just picture jesus spending 6 months or so picking out a suitable replacement in disgust at the one he picked first time around fell away.

The JWS are deluding themselves in thinking that God has given them a monopoly in the remaining part of the 144 000 positions.
The so called annointed don't even know why they are annointed on what criteria they were supposedly chosen, and what sort of criteria do the morally corrupt GB measure up to? -

Field service horror/humor stories.
by sonnyboy inthis has probably been done before, but has anyone had any scary or funny things happen to them during field service?
i used to go door-to-door with the most obnoxious elder in the world.
if we approached a house, saw signs of life, but they didn't answer the door, he'd actually go around and knock on their windows!

I was out on the fs with another young guy we were about 18. Someone told us "at your age you should be thinking more about your dicks you should be out enjoying yourselves with girls not preaching the bible".

Hot disputes
by greendawn indid you ever have a hot dispute with someone for whatever reason a dentist that messed up your teeth or a lawyer that stubbed you his client in the back by doing a secret deal with your opponents, someone that sold you expensive shoddy goods or a teacher that gave you unreasonably low marks?
or someone that caused a car accident and in the absence of any witnesses blamed you for it?

A few years back a solicitor agreed to do some work for me for the sum of £700 (about $1300) but when he finished he wanted to charge me £1800 and I refused to pay any more than what we agreed even though he was saying "I wish I hadn't said that there was a lot more work invoved than I thought" and other non sense.
I agreed to give him £200 more, he didn't accept and sued. He failed to show up at the court on three occasions on various pretexts and the judge dismissed the case. -

The founder of the org C. Russell did use Masonic symbols in his publications and the very words watchtower and millenial dawn were masonic buzz words at that time, and next to his grave there are again some of these symbols. He no doubt was quite influenced by masonry but it can not be established 100% that he was a mason. My feeling is that he was one in disguise.

Wouldn't it be funny if...
by Markfromcali inokay this thread is for all sorts of ideas, just go with the subject title and whatever that comes to mind.
i know i have these pop up in my mind once in a while and i thought it would be cool if there was a thread where we shared all these.
here's one: i was just thinking wouldn't it be funny if an exjw/apostate wrote their messages in the typical watchtower writing style, complete with questions for study for each paragraph?

If the WTS told all JWs that are internet connected to do their preaching through the net rather than door to door. Hmm the ultra conservative WTS using modern technology to reap the "fields".

Do you have a mental image of other posters on this site?
by dh ina lot of people here have posted their photo's, but i think the majority haven't... i sometimes wonder when reading posts on here, what person making those posts must look like, not that i want to see their photo, i just find it interesting... i recently got to see a photo of someone i have talked to on here since i first joined, and i had to say the person looked an awful lot like i had imagined, so i wondered if anyone else wonders about things like this?
is there a particular poster you have a mental image of?
care to share it and see if the person really looks like what you think they look like?

I never had this experience but I think we can have a good accurate idea about the personalities of the posters.

The Fruits Of The Watchtower Religion
by ColdRedRain inlast night, i told my brother how i'm studying for my yellowbelt test for tae kwon do.
he then started breaking down in a rant saying how i'm not concentrating on other things and i'm just looking out for leisurely stuff.
he then went on to say "well, can't you see, the world is going to end and you're doing this useless pursuit in life?

In their personal lives they have staked a great deal on the new world and they get very upset if all their self denying will be for nothing, of course they have been deceived so as to serve like slaves of the WTS.

I don't think they need to make such a dramatic cut off they can always visit and make a one or two posts every couple of months if they are too busy.
