If MJ's bad childhood justifies what he did (or rather what we believe he did)then this applies to lots more people.

Jehovah saved Michael Jackson!?
by Gill inso, there i was quietly dropping off to sleep while listening to the news at 10 on the bbc last night.
suddenly, michael jackson had been found not guilty of everything, and fair enough, i'm no judge or jury so it's not up to me to say yay or nay.. then my eldest son rushes into the bedroom on the phone to his jw full time pioneer girl friend.. her father had just told her that michael jackson had given credit to jehovah, that if he should be found not guilty of these charges his great god jehovah is the one that saved him and the girls elder father was saying what a wonderful witness this is, letting everyone in the world hear jehovah's name.. the best i could mumble at the time was 'go away you bunch of freaks!'.
however, the ludicrousness of this has finally dawned on me this morning!.

JWs thoughts on Hell
by Oxnard Hamster inthe jws don't believe hell, as in the place where evil people are tortured for eternity, exists.
they reason that a loving god would not send his own creation to be tormented for eternity.. yet on the flipside, the jws preach that in 1914 (yeah, you all know this arguement.
) there was a big war in heaven, and satan and all his creatures were cast down to earth.

Is hell literal or a symbol for spiritual torment? I can't see humans suffering such a fate for ever, not even satan and his angels who I think will get a few thousand or a few tens of thousands of years of punishment and then be disposed of.

no stones please!
by almosthome ini am hoping a little balance is allowed here, or at least the coin's flip side.
this is my story so far, but i am fairly sure it is going to end up a bit differently than most i have read on your site.
the brothers couldn't help my husband, he didn't want help.

People on this forum are not singling out the WTS for criticism, they make criticisms wherever this is due, but if we examine the Governing Body history, analyse it carefully and get the overall picture we will see that there is a lot more in it than innocent unintentional mistakes. There is a lot of lying and subtle manipulation and an absolute presumptious refusal to accept constructive criticism from anyone.
I think you are over-idealising them, the blood issue cost a lot of needless deaths and shunning ruined many families. -

Exploitation of brothers & sisters
by LouBelle inin the past i visited bethel and got to 'tour' around.
here men & women worked their asses off every single day - a full 8 & 1/2 hours a day.
they had to make sure they were up at the crack of dawn to attend the reading of the day text.

The point is that they have volunteered for this work after having been duped by the WTS into thinking that an overabundant reward will be given from Jehovah himself in due time because slaving away for the org is equivalent to slaving away for jehovah. Since the dawn of history religions are good at making slaves out of people.
The society is certainly rich enough to pay something reasonable but tightfistedness and meanness are deeply ingrained in this org at top level and further down. -

To shun or not to shun...
by kj inhas there been any "new light" recently about how to treat disfellowshipped family members?
my cousin got dfd a few months ago.
i noticed that she had been spending quite a lot of time at my aunt's (her mother, an active jw) home.

Expected behaviour in a cult that promises everlasting life, they need to make sure they don't do anything naughty that could blow it for them, plus the intimidation of the big A.
For them daily life is a stuggle to escape eternal extinction. -

Why the Jehovah's Witness religion will live on and on
by free2beme ini have read in here a few post, and would expect to see these kind of post.
where people hope the religion will end some day and perhaps then all that has happened as a former witness to us, will be stopped and the witnesses will see the error of their ways and life will be good again.
i never think they will end, and here are some reasons why i think this way.. third world countries thinking.

To us it's hard to imagine how anyone could be happy in a religion like the JWs because we have acquired a much more enlightened perspective of things but if some are masochistic enough to be satisfied with life there and can take all the lies and bs without any ill effects then it's a good place for them.
As for religions there are cults and serious religions and even though they are all harmful in one way or other, cults are far more damaging to their members. -

I also agree that the WTS is very criminal even if at a different level, they don't harm the body but they do have this strange power to seriously harm people emotionaly which can causes anguish for years.

Get that Drama about "No College" into the hands of a child custody judge
by truthseeker in.
just finished reading the posts on this years drama, about timothy "pioneering" and how youths should not go to college.. it is crucial, if you are helping any parent win custody of their children from their jw parent, that you get a copy of the drama on dvd (someone stated it would be released at the end of the summer) and get it into the hands of a family court judge.. the wt already has a booklet about how jw parents and children should respond in family court, over custody cases.
they use twisted reasoning and scripted answers.. this dvd will expose their lies and evil maliciouness..

THey will never give up their highly manipulative attitude and need to be exposed to the full before the whole world.

Believe it or not there is parallel between early Christians and JW
by Face inapostle paul wrote:.
nevertheless, in a congregation i would rather speak five words with my mind, that i might also instruct others orally, than ten thousand words in a tongue.
20 brothers, do not become young children in powers of understanding, but be babes as to badness; yet become full-grown in powers of understanding.. .

They are indeed far from such spiritual standards they are far too heartless and pitiless despite their claim to be god's loving org. they certainly don't love those that criticise their beliefs.
