What is it exactly that you don't understand Netty? Potleg of course one has to ultimately pay a price for denying reality and believing in an illusion. All the signs of the end of times proved to be fanciful.

Sending letters to all JWs I know.....
by Lilycurly inafter thinking a lot about it, i just felt i had to at least try something to make the local jws open their eyes.
i know it is most unlikely that any of them will even consider reading all of what i will send, but here's the plan:.
i've got a list of all their addresses (that i kept from before).

The wondering dogmas, do they know the difference between increasing light on an issue, and rejecting (old light) for new one; between expanding a concept and discarding and changing it with a totally new one?
They are being grossly manipulated by the "increasing light" concept to hide the fact that the GB are getting so many things (almost everything) wrong, otherwise it's easy to see how incompetent and worthless they are something that would wreck their prestige and authority. -

What words and phrases do Brits and others see as 'American'?
by sonnyboy inas an american, i see words such as cheerio, blimey, bloody (when referring to something negative), loo, bugger, fag (cigarette), etc.
as chiefly british (i suppose they are).. what words and/or phrases do you consider to be chiefly american?
i'm honestly unaware of which words i use that may not be used in other english-speaking countries.

How hard would it be to twist witnesses in knots as an xjw?
by AK - Jeff ini mean we know how shallow the basic witness thinking is - we were there once ourselves.
do you think you could twist them into a pretzel?
what lines of reasoning would you use?

You can easily give overcome their objections to all issues pertaining to the jws but the point is how to bypass the mind conditioning: "watch out so that the devil doesn't mislead you with false ideas and deprive you of the prize of life", is what they will be thinking and resisting all admonition perceiving you as an agent of the Devil that is being invisibly directed to victimise them.
If you want to overcome this you need a lot of time as Still noted, to gain their trust. -

Can you control your dreams?
by ButtLight infor years and years i have been able to wake up in the middle of a dream, and go back to it right where i left off.
if its a good one, that i didnt want to leave, i think about it, fall back asleep, and im back in!
or, like the other night, i was mad at my bf in my dream.

I can't recall ever being able to control dreams in any way so I always thought of them as things that happen to us, I can often remember them and at times they are agreeable. I try to analyse them for their psychological significance.

When the desire to see the end coming is very strong a tendancy for illusions is inevitable, it's nice to believe that old age, death and disease will end soon, and those that give this "comfort" want their reward for the favour, total control over all spiritual affairs.

Wifey is now a 'churchgoer'!
by AK - Jeff in.
she has gone several weeks in a row to two different churches - i would go too - but i work on sunday.
she likes it - and the demonz ain't got her yet.

As long as these churches are not of a cultish nature some spiritual activity in them doesn't do any harm. I myself will only loosely associate with (some of) them after the toxic cult experience with the jws.

I don't know if you realised this but the JWD forum is mainly anti JW, most people here believe that the jws are one of many dangerous, manipulative cults now operating in the world. You should carefully examine to see if a denomination is a cult or a serious religion because getting entangled in a cult can cause serious and persistent problems emotionally.

by lola28 inhey everyone, this is my first post and i'am terrefied.

Welcome Lola, from your story we can once more observe that the jws are a heartles lot that like to receive but never to give, you were a very active member and when you needed some help there was none, many people on this board think of the WTS as a business at heart (pretending to be a religion)that understands nothing about christian love and solidarity.

what proves jw's aren't true?
by jwfacts ini am inactive and it took years of doubt to convince myself the jw's arent true.
i started doubting because i hated the idea that jehovah would kill 6 billion non-jw's.
the thing now that is the most important proof for me is that until 1954 jw's worshipped jesus and it is still in the watchtower charter, even though you now get disfellowshipped for worshipping jesus.

So Potleg that suppression of free debate is due to the fear that everything will unravel in this org if it is not impeded and the expulsion of dissenters is a political game to protect the elite's prestige and position. That should be very revealing to anyone that is not totally ignorant and naive. Dissenters go out and will lose their lives in the big A (LOL)they have to be sacrificed for the sake of people like Barber, Jaracz, Sydlik etc
