one of the local elders - whom i loved dearly when we were in - just died.
funny how when you get out of this organization your attitude in life completely reverses, huh?
a year and half ago, just before starting the 'fade', i actually took my vacation days in order to attend the sunday meetings (i work a weekend shift now).
I'm so sorry :(
hugs,

-----------someone was going to an assembly to picket, and asked you to write an slogan which would really make a witness think or question what would you write?
"Got Truth? WWW.Freeminds.org."
witnesses like to use logic and reason to support their ideas.
here is what happens when logic and reason is applied to food.. .
bread.
2. A nationwide "Just Say No To Toast" campaign, complete celebrity
TV spots and bumper stickers.
ROFL! Just another reason to decline the bread from Jehovah's table, eh Gary?
I find it incredibly amusing for some reason that the pop up ad in this thread is for low carb alternatives LOL.
another great thread!!

...Or meet them at the door with a fruitcake and say, "I was just thinking of you when I was picking our family snack for the evening's festivities!"
(((((((Mulan)))))) I'm sorry that you have to deal with this crud. I just told my husband and he said "You mean people rat each other out to the elders?" "Oh, it's their duty to keep the congregation clean!" I explained. He still doesn't fathom completely how wacky dub-dom is. One of the reasons I love him so much.
We're here for you to vent to whatever happens!!!

i haven't posted here in ages, so i doubt anyone remembers me.
in any case, my name is rochelle, and i used to be a witness.
i started studying with them at age 17, got baptized at 18, and left at 24 or 25 for a lot of reasons.
I love Hello Kitty
me too me too! :) Hey, I remember you very well! You may remember me too but not this username, I lost the info on the old Esmeralda account so I can't use that one anymore.
But it's me, essie. I am happy to hear from you!

losing fear and guilt with humor
if i had never gone to bethel i would never have known how arrogant and controlling some of the powers that be are that are there.
it only takes a few in key positions.
I love it, Randy!
Only with humor can you possibly make it through dealing with the circus that is Jehovah's Witness family and their vicissitudes. Sometimes the behaviour is so obsurd that if you didn't laugh you'd drown in your tears. All you can do is laugh and keep bailing!
I've often told my husband, if I ever lose my sense of humor it's time to put me out to pasture. Or call "Smiling Jack." LOL Thanks for reminding us and for all the great links, can't wait to explore them when I have more time.
Hugs to you and happy holidays!!!
*smooch on the cheek*
love, Essie
as you may have noticed, i have returned from the search for my grandfather.
the story is much too long to simply post in this message.
i will post the story soon.
(((((((Bryan))))))))
Will be waiting to hear the continuation...

honestly, are you a better person now or were you a "better" person when you were a jw?
Better? Well.....by the JW's standards I'm probably so far gone I have no chance of being considered a better person...especially when the Big 'A' arrives.
Aww, Preston. I'm sure that's what they think of me too...(((((preston)))) we love ya just the way you are!
I am definitely happier than I was, and I try to be 'better'. I plan to work on that the rest of my life, though, to me it's a never-ending process of learning and growth.
at the end of george pal's 1960 classic "h.g.wells' the time machine," the main character returns from 1899 to the year 802701 to rebuilt civilization.
mankind has forgotton about science, religion, technology, art, agriculture, everything.
after he has left, his housekeeper notes that the only things the time traveller took with him are three books.
The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy (Or, the collected Hitchhikers series in one volume) by Douglas Adams
The Collected Works of Alfred, Lord Tennyson
The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz
I think that sums it all up pretty good, in one way or another.
