  I like that line about "anyone heard using improper language is to be taken aside and lovingly counselled." That might happen , but I doubt it will be loving.

  LOL no kidding! Loving council is as much of an oxymoron as "airline food" or "Republican party." (paraphrasing Johnny Depp)

  I know a kid who was forced to take off his tie and wear that of another guy before going on the stage to give his pioneering experience back in the late 80's. His offense? His suit and tie combo were "too miami vice"

  My conscience

  everyone who ever became a jw must have heard the words "bible - trained conscience" many, many times, i probably heard it, and said it, on hundreds of thousands of occasions.

  when i first got in trouble with the elders for talking to dedpoet, they told me my bible trained conscience should help me to see what was right.

  i haven't heard the term much lately, but i have thought about it a lot, and my conscience still troubles me quite a bit.. don't get me wrong, i am happy to be out of the org and have no thoughts about going back, but i still feel guilty quite often when i do things i would never have considered doing as a jw.

  Awww, Linda.

  I have taken the JW guilt trip. I don't think there was ever a person who tried harder to live up to all the JW expectations of morality than I did. And I suffered for it, but I tried so hard.

  After I left, I still thought well hell, might die at Armageddon but I'm gonna live in the meantime. Then time went on... I realized that my life is very boring and most people who are active JW's are way more wild and 'worldly' than I will ever be. that helps put it in perspective.

  Remember, just because people look good doesn't mean they are good. Just do your best, be kind to others, and I honestly believe that it all comes out in the wash.

  Remember too, that these are the people who expect young people to basically explode one day from holding in all those desires too long. They are neither sane nor realistic. When you realize that the people who are dictating how we should live our lives every day are shielding, willingly, thousands of child molesters...it makes it a lot easier to cast off the shackles. Time helps, too.

  Be happy honey, life is too short.

  do you know who the worst offenders were??

  the elders.

  the elders, because they were "shepherds and overseers" believed they had the right to talk about you, your family, your job, your personality and so forth.....they pick apart any male in the hall under the guise of seeing whther someone "might qualify for privileges".

  ROFLMAO!!!! What a question! Let me tell you, the stories of my departure from my 1st marriage and df'ing get bigger by the year. Even I can't believe some of the things I've done LOL.

  Bottom line, all JW's gossip because they are miserable. The only ones who don't gossip are the ones either on their way out or the ones who are just so sickened by it because it's happened to them. Otherwise, it's open season. If you're alive, in a congregation, and at all intersting, attractive, or successful (or any combination thereof) believe me, you're being talked about.

  I'm 4th. They had my great grands, grands, and parents before me. Branches of my family down south...they're actually heading into the sixth generation now (yes it's possible! Youngin's having babies :( But they're not going to get my own personal contribution to the 5th generation of the family if I have anything to say about it...ie, over my dead body!!!

  I just remembered why this date sounds familiar to me, May 8

  on may 8, 1955, i was baptized.

  i was 9 years old and it was a special baptism on a sunday.

  for some reason, we didn't have a circuit assembly in the spring that year, so they just held a baptism.. what were my parents thinking?

  good grief, Mulan. I thought it was bad I was 12. It seemed the thing to do back then...I know my mom was only eight. She didn't even know what 'fornication' meant, didn't find out till way afterward. How can a child with such limited knowledge of everything including life itself ever be held to the rules of the cult who baptized them? and the WTS has the unmitigated gaul to point at the Catholic church and damn them for baptizing babies. We were babies!!!

  Scared of what will happen..

  even though i have been reasured that they are both very common, i am still scared.

  i am having a laparoscopy and a leep.

  the leep is to remove cervical cancer, and the lap is to look at my repoductive organs and all the stuff.

  Vicodin, the not so innocent addiction

  with the thing that happened with kennedy today, it got me to thinking about how many people i know who are addicted to vicodin.

  they always think it is no big deal, as it is not meth, or any other well known and notorious drugs.

  plus, in their mind, they label what they take as okay as it is not listed as illegal and doctors do give out the prescription.

  Wow. I had come back this morning really expecting to see some replies on this important thread! I'm amazed with all the threads on everything around here from oral sex to judicial committee discussions I guess there are still some social taboos even among us enlightened apostates!

  I wanted to come back to post again and say that my heart truly goes out to those in chronic pain. I know what you go through it because I have suffered chronic pain since childhood that has never been adequately treated. Hell, it took me 20 years just to get the doctors to take me seriously and look for a real problem (of which they have irrefutable proof now on in glorious detail). So if anyone is reading this and feeling guilty for treating your pain...again, please know that my posts were not intended to judge. I just don't want to see any of my JWD "family" go through what I have seen my real family go through. Keep in constant communication with your doctors. If you don't trust your current ones, get new ones! That is a lesson I learned the hard way recently though I can't go into detail on the forum. Listen to your gut. There are tons of doctors out there. It matters not how prestigious a hospital or staff is supposed to be, if you're uncomfortable, there's a reason. Many are happy to write a script and send you out the door rather than try to get to the bottom of the cause of your pain, which may be treatable! I swear they give out Vicadin for paper cuts these days.

  If you're stuck on these pills, just get help. Please, please, please. For yourself, your spouse if you have one, and especially for any kids you might have at home. You only get one chance to be a sober parent. You can't go back and get a do over. Remember that. I wish my family had.

  Time to take a break, see you all in a few months.

  it's not a big deal, i'm just going to bugger off for a while.. i feel myself becoming tetchy and impatient and that's just not the person i want to be.

  i'm taking the family away for two weeks in the cypriot sun in july/august so i'll use the time from now till then to mellow out and chill down a bit.

  see you all again when i'm tanned and relaxed.. have a good summer everyone!.
