Good points, Blondie.
I alway tell my husband that I'm an eighties girl at heart.
Ciara
do you wish that you could have lived in another time period?
i'm talking about like the early 1900's or late 1800's or any other time?
even the depression time?

would you treat somebody better if they drove a mercedes as opposed to a person who drives a ford pinto, you don't have to be mr. spock to figure out that's not logical, so why would you treat somebody differently if they get in 20 hours per month as opposed to 2 hours a month, this goes on all the time in dub land, this is the major thing that " stumbles" me, (my favorite dub word, that'll i'll vent about in a future post).
the dubs do this all the time and it really pisses me off, they claim that their not a judgemental group but we all know better.
how can you judge somebodys worth on a slip of paper marking how many hours they go knocking on doors, that's just wrong.
the person with 20 hours probably made up more than half of those hours
Yeah. It's pretty much already been established that most of us "embellished" our time slips. I've never seen a thread on why we all felt we had to do that, but I would guess that it was so we wouldn't be "councelled" or made to feel like second-class citizens because we weren't doing our duty.

2004 district conventions of jehovah's witnesses
this summer jehovah's witnesses will host 211 conventions in 63 cities in the contiguous united states.
the public is invited to attend any of these three-day events, which will feature free bible-based presentations under the theme "walk with god.
Sites like that trip my gag reflex.
Ciara
so, who's going to the convention this year?
are you going to attend all of it?
the last year i went to the convention, i only went for one day.
Here's the link for the 2004 Conventions.

I don't remember if it was an international list or just U.S.A.
the other night in the pub a guy pipes up, "hey, how you doing mate?
then proceeds to inform everyone that i used to try and convert him to jwism about 8 years ago.
i say, "how you doing dave?"...
Mr Ben, looks like you're getting the knack of doing a bit of un-witnessing, yourself. A step along the road of recovery????
Ciara
.
awwww ... isn't this sweet, you can adopt a jw, or is that a jw can adopt you?
jw adoption
Notice that no JW's are actually adopting. You don't actually expect them to do something humanitarian, do you?
Oh well, it's probably for the best. Lord knows, they don't need to be brainwashing other people's babies. The treatment their own kids get is bad enough.

my mother in law has been a faithful dub for 55 years, the other day she wanted to show my 2 year old daughter the local memorial day parade.
i almost fell off my rocker, after giving her the "maybe not, maybe this..." i let them go.. is this allowed, or is it a laxing trend?
I know we were never allowed to go. It was sort of on the same principle of not even standing up during the pledge of allegiance. Even if you aren't actually participating, it looks like you are. And we don't want to give even the impression of wrongdoing, of course.
Ciara
so, who's going to the convention this year?
are you going to attend all of it?
the last year i went to the convention, i only went for one day.

Actually all of those listings are for 2003. Maybe if I dig a little farther on the media site I can find it though.

the other night sandy and i were having an argument with badger about what women want.. he says money.. .
so what is it ladies?
I think nearly all the people I know that stay in a relationship for money are miserable. I truly can't think of one happy couple that are only in it for the money.
Ciara
.
am i dreaming this up, or aren't they a pagan symbol?
if so, why would jw's continue to use them as part of a marriage ceremony in jehovah's eyes?.
That's the same story I always heard, Badger.
But most people don't see Easter, Christmas, etc. as pagan, either. Basically they apply that rule only when it's convenient.
