she and her fellow students are studing the holocaust in thier honors english class.. the teacher has instructed them to do the following:.
Moe, since this probably won't be the worst thing she has to handle in her life, I think she should see it. If she feels sick, good. Those poor people who died in the camps would have loved to have been living in America, with plenty to eat, things to wear, with the worst thing that could happen to them being watching a war movie....you're neice will be ok. Tell her to buck up....the real world's a lot worse than a video.

How r ya? Some current JW's come to the sight to "put the fear of God into you", but just ignore them. Some of the biggest offenders are Fredhall(who is actually pretty funny), You Know, (our resident prophet), and a various assortment of hit and runners, who post inflammatory things three times, then leave.

i just read the tragic story of the man in chicago who beat his daughter to death.
i have read stories here and on silentlambs about sexual abuse.. my question is: how much fault can be placed on the religion and how much on the perversions of a particular individual?
i frankly don't know the answer to this question.

To me it's simple.
JW's give power to people who shouldn't have it.
Mothers who are emotionally troubled are told to liberally use the rod. Abusive men are told they are the head, and they use it to browbeat their families. Many abusive men with bad tendencies become elders...and they spread their example around.
JW's aren't bad. It's what they turn people into that is.
They tell thier parishoners that God defends their "righteous actions" even if there is a bad result from them.

Hungry, I agree with your observations. I too went back several times (not after the 11th) and I feel the same way....it's all very sterile and boring. There is no fire in them anymore.
Even IF they were a good people, I may have left. Even Good people without zeal are rather pointless.

my question is,if it is true that only j.w's will survive then surely everybody on the planet should at least get the option of becoming a witness,but there are people living in remote parts of the world who rarely come into contact with civilisation,im pretty sure there are still small tribes of people living in some rainforest who haven't even been discovered yet,where do theses people fit in,do they just perish like the rest of us?.

I agree, TR. Absolutly f**king horrible. I think most of us were abused in some way-I got tossed down flights of stairs, and thrown out of the house since I was 14 to name a few. (and I was one of the best behaved children in the hall). My father even said that gree-striped shirts were rebellious....
