LT: Please clarify, how do we measure what?
FD: Well, I'm disappointed in the Oxford English.
Terry: I still admire you for using the word bloviating, even if you didn't make it up.
current mathematical models of the universe involve what is termed 'hyper-dimension.".
ever read the book flatland?
it describes how a 2-dimensional being would perceive the intersection of a 3-dimensional object in "their" universe.. a flatlander would never be able to comprehend a sphere.

I disavow mystical things because the SOURCE is hidden and cannot be tested.
I did a degree in mathematics many moons ago and I still like to read those "new science" types books that all the mainstream scientists hate because they are so irrational/paradigm busting (depending on your point of view). Stuff like Zero Point Field theory and yadda yadda yadda. So that's my caveat, I am NOT a scientist. But my feeble understanding of quantum theory was that you can't measure both the speed and mass of an electron at the same time, so you never actually can "observe" an electron. An electron, the SOURCE, is both hidden and can't be tested. We see only traces, the signs of its passing. And this "seeing" is also only a subjective experience. Why shouldn't the mystical experience also be viewed as a trace of something we can never see or measure, but that leaves its mark?
I actually looked up the word bloviating in the Oxford English and it doesn't seem to exist, which only increases my admiration for it. Anyone who can make up cool words like that is tops in my book.
i resisted it for years.
i was dragged kicking and screaming into the evolution theory camp.. i would rather have had my arm lopped off at the elbow;but, facts are facts.
i had to be intellectually honest.
Ditto Carmel.
So that's why I'm always making things harder for myself. That explains a lot. I think those kinds of messages in childhood really stick.
the premise of the movie the little black book, seems to have brought this topic up in conversation i have noticed... radio stations are having call ins... today one made the statement that women will snoop more than men and they were wanting callers to say if they snoop or not.. .
its been intersting to hear some of the calls.. .
would you be tempted to snoop to make sure your love is in check?
It would depend on the whole context. I would find it distasteful. It doesn't seem very dignified. And people need their privacy. If I felt like I HAD to snoop on the guy I would already have lost respect for him and wouldn't want him anymore. However, if I suspected criminal activity or that I was in danger I wouldn't hesitate for a second.
Not quite following this FBF. Someone is hiding or has hidden something? If so, why? What's that about Napolean breaking noses off statues?
hello all, here in the uk at the moment, we have the coca cola ad that has the woman walking down some steps singing 'i wish i could...' and handing out opened bottles of coke to passersby.
well during the ad there are 2 separate ,bright double flashes of light.
at normal speed they appear to be coming from her earings, but when recorded and played slowly with the pause button they are actually coming from under/behind a parked car in the near background.i doubt if they are there by accident.. they are a bit disturbing.. has anyone else seen this, and what do you make of it, or have i just been reading too many conspiracy books?.
I haven't seen the ad, but I would guess that they really just wanted to have her earrings flash, and added it in digitally because they didn't have the right light to get a strong enough effect naturally. The effect of it coming from underneath the car is an artifact.
If I wanted to get really paranoid I might think that they deliberately shifted it to look a bit artificial in order to give the subliminal conspiracy gang something to chew on. I mean, you are talking and thinking about Coke adverts now, right? For them, it's all good.
Or, you could take an even subtler approach and theorise that they deliberately made it look digitised because digitised is so new and cool and trendy and NOW.
Or maybe they have embedded hypnotic messages directly into your brain. They'll stoop to anything, those bastards. If you suddenly find yourself doing panto and eating raw onions as if they were apples, it might be time to start worrying (unless you've always done that, of course).
eh gadget turned me on to this mag while i was in the uk...nothing like having tea in 1st class on the train avin a go wiff viz...*lol* any uk peeps read this?
reminds me of mad magazine or summit... .
sincerely,.
My favourites were Finbar Saunders and his double entendres (fnak fnak), and the chap with the unfeasibly large testicles who has to carry them around in a wheelbarrow.
so, do you have one outstanding "hint" that helps you everyday?
i do and i call it the "one thing only" (oto) philosophy.
i first put it together hearing a statement saying "never leave a room empty-handed" (mary lou henning?
Soledad: I know just what you're talking about. Things are just never the same again after you have kids. When I went on a trampoline after having my daughter, I got a rude surprise. I wonder if Madonna has this problem? She probably has a special trainer just for her bladder. "Okay, bladder, drop and give me ten. Are you whining? Make it 20."
My helpful hint is always do the hardest thing first. If you put it off, it sucks energy. If you do it first, then even if you don't do the other things at all, you still have a sense of achievement and relief.
well, i got done with my taichi class.
after driving around for a little while, seeing the sights etc.. i decided to head to work early, to get changed then head to the bar for a beer or two before my shift starts.. i filled up on gas, then as i was driving away, i noticed a poor gal (35ish) walking down the sidewalk slowly.. thumbing a lift.
obviously she had been drinking, though not to the point of totally stumbling all over.. i felt so sorry for the woman, i just had to pull over and give her a lift.
Hi Kate
That's an awful story about your dad, I'm so glad it had a happy ending (well, hundreds of stitches aren't exactly a happy ending but thank goodness he lived). Anyway, I'm not saying it's a hard and fast rule that people will never ever have trouble if they just listen to their intuition. Sometimes stuff just goes wrong, or so it seems to me.
But I have noticed that there are an awful lot of stories where people say they had a feeling something was wrong beforehand, but they didn't want to be rude, or irrational, or they were afraid of embarrassment. I was on my own much too young, and got in a lot of bad situations. I always felt fear before there was any rational reason for it, ignored the fear because it seemed to have no basis, and then I was suddenly in hot water.
Fortunately, I have a very diligent guardian angel. I kept him-her busy for a few years there.
