From reading all these I think I must have been just not born to be a dub, because I could scarcely relate to Armageddon at all. I think I was very confused by the whole thing, and I don't remember having any fantasies about what it would be like. I do remember looking at those ridiculous pictures and thinking "I don't want to live there if I have to dress like that!" when I was 12. I was very "worldly" at heart, as far back as I can remember.

Hi logan
you can take the boy out of the dubs but not....)
This is funny, I say this all the time, except I say "girl". I don't know you well on the board but I wanted to answer because I had the exact same problems as you at your age, with a few minor variations from being a girl, and I had a similar family situation. Listen, you were smart, a JW, and had a depressed parent, and that's a triple whammy, it means that you probably never got to be a child at all. But Tom Robbins says it's never to late to have a happy childhood, and it's true. You need to let yourself have some fun. JWs aren't allowed to have fun as a general rule, and those raised by dubs tend to feel something terrible is going to happen if they aren't serious at all times. Go forth and be frivolous! (I think the first thing you should do is have your horoscope done by an expensive professional. I understand that Ronald Reagan's astrologer was very good. JUST KIDDING!).

Communication from the subconscious
by seattleniceguy init's been a while since i've posted here.
hope you all remember me!
in the final months before i left the organization, in the days before i consciously could accept that it was not the truth - indeed, before i could even entertain such a notion on the conscious level - my subconscious knew the truth, and it took to sending me ever stronger messages.

I'm also very interested in how the subconscious sends messages, I find it very enigmatic. I think that some physical symptoms are messages, but I'm never that clear what the message is. If my throat were closing up, I might think that there was something I wanted to say but couldn't let myself. Maybe you don't want to be such a nice guy? Maybe you want to tell off some JWs?

I think blood ties are very important no matter how difficult your family is, but it's not always the best thing to be in actual contact with your family. Sometimes you just have to love them at a distance, if they are dangerous to your mental health or your marriage or your children. If you did somehow manage to regain contact with them, the pressure and guilt would still be there waiting for you. I still think it would be worth trying to get the baptism revoked, although I doubt you have much hope of success. If people could get baptism revoked in order to regain contact with their shunning families, the whole point of disfellowshipping would be undermined and the religion would lose control. But why not try? Then at least you'll know you did your best. If you get contact again through all this, and then find that it isn't the best thing for you and your family, you can make a different decision down the line. But it's always good to have as many options as possible.

Breaking news: Nerve gas found in Iraq

There's also this:
http://msnbc.msn.com/id/4997808/
which includes this
Because the old "binary-type" artillery shell requires the mixing of two chemical components in separate sections of the cell to produce the sarin, it is likely that the insurgents who rigged it as a roadside bomb were unaware that it contained chemicals for producing the nerve agent rather than explosives, Kimmitt said.

But David Kay, the former chief U.S. weapons inspector in Iraq, said the discovery does not provide evidence that Saddam was secretly producing weapons of mass destruction after the Gulf War, as alleged by the Bush administration to justify the war that removed him from power.
Shell could be leftover from before Gulf War"I think all of us have known that because of the sheer volume of artillery (containing agents like sarin that were in the Iraqi arsenal prior to the Gulf War) ... that there were likely to be some of these still around Iraq," he told MSNBC TV. "But (the discovery) doesn't speak to the issue of whether weapons of mass destruction were still being produced in Iraq in the mid-1990s."

Apostates are contributing to the fulfillment of a JW interpretation
by reason inby constantly irritating the un and other government organisations about their complaints against the wts as an organised religion, do you think these men are contributing to the fulfillment of the wts 'interpretation' of the prophecy regarding the wild beast turning against organised religion?
-
myauntfanny
The WBTS got in bed with the wild beast in the first place, if the wild beast turns on them now, they have no one but themselves to blame.
