How about its okay for Dub parents to shun their disfellowhipped children, however if the parents fall on hard financial times the society will encourage those parents to go to those d'fed children for financial support. Not the congo.

Jehovah's Witness Oddities
by minimus ini now enjoy telling people about the things jehovah's witnesses can and cannot do.
for instance, witnesses can work in a store that sells lottery tickets and tobacco but they can't own the store themselves.....whole blood is forbidden to be transfused yet blood fractions are acceptable.
donating blood in any form is wrong but accepting blood fractions is a conscience matter.........can you think of other jw oddities????

Anyone had a near death experience?

the nearest i came was knocking myself out - my life actually did flash before my eyes.
it could only have been seconds before bumping my head and hitting the ground, but i flashed through scene after scene of life events, from childhood to adulthood.

My NDE was related happened on 9/11 while walk through the concourse of the WTC.
I was not seriously hurt but I do remember thinking of all the things that I hadn't accomplihed yet in life and if I got another chance I won't waste it.
Not a vision or a dream, just a really sobering thought.

Long Island Congregations?

He moved to NJ and she has relocated to Virginia.

2 days in NY, 2 days in LA, what do you do?
by Satans little helper inguys and girls, mrs slh and i are emigrating to the promised land of australia in august and the cheapest way to get there with the best luggage allowance is via the us.
as it's a round the world ticket we can stop twice on the way and have decided to spend 2 days in ny and 2 days in la.
so, we've got limited time and don't want to spend an absolute fortune (so disneyland is out).

There is a fairly reasonable hotel called Club Quarters located in the Wall st area and in midtown. The rooms are small but extremely cheap - about $100. per night.

I still have the close true friends that I had as a Dub, even though I am no longer in the "False".
I have also made new friends that have replaced most of the fair weather friends I used to have.
It's hard but I sometimes still miss the friends of my youth if only because of the memories we shared together.
