think about everything you could have been doing while you were an active jw.
and even if you weren't a "true believer", think of all the wasted time you put into the "truth"-----for nothing!

Maybe glad is not the word, comfortable is more like it.
I have no idea how I would have turned out if I was not involved in the cult a a child.
The one thing I am sure of now is that I am happy with who I am today and if being a dub for over 20 years has anything to do with that, then I am comfortable with that.

Yes it does.
But I don't think I would change anything about my past, it made me who I am today.

my wife is an ex dub like me.. it certainly helps that she understands why i am the way i am, and the actions of her in - laws.. what about you?

it's not often talked about but in my experience a lot of witnesses have sex (or something like it) during their courtship.
and most of them never go to the elders about it.
recent case in point: my dear friend got married this past summer.
In a 2 year period I attended about 20 weddings including my own.
Nearly all had pre marital sex
Nearly all are divoced from that partner.
Including myself.
i still dream about this often!
some of my childhood friends stop being jw's so i can have them back as my friends, it would be like a dream come true.
but some of you might say: "you would take them back as friends?
I mis some of my old firend, too.
I believe they were true friends but afriad to go against the system because of their own personal reasons.
I shunned some of my good friends as well when they left the "lie", so I know the feeling of losing some one you really love but are afraid to take a stand against the cult.

disfellowshipped 3 times!!!!
at the last dfing announcement the brother got up there and yelled into the mic .
A friend of mine has been disfellowshipped 3x.
1. Sex
2. Sex and wife abuse
3. Embezzlement of funds from a lot of dubs
He is now reinstated.
He has also appealed being disfellowshipped twice and won.
i was at work -- a manager in a hospital that is the regional treatment center for one medical specialty...region includes nyc.
someone came & grabbed me hard by the arm and pulled me into a room, where i saw every single mgr.
sitting silently watching tv.
I had just gotten off the ferry from Jersey City into the WTC wheen the first plane hit. I just didn't believe my eyes. Debris, bodies and furniture was falling out of the sky.
I was stuck on the concourse of the WTC and after staring in the sky for minutes I finally ran to my office.
I was scheduled to be at a meeting in tower 2 from at 8:30, but because my department was being audited, I cancelled my attendance on the Friday before.
Out of the 20 people at the meeting, only 8 survived. The meeting was on the 98th floor.
I still get the shivers when I think of that day.
My new motto: "live everyday to the fullest, it may be your last."
first, we survived being born to mothers who smoked and/or drank while they carried us.
they took aspirin, ate blue cheese dressing, tuna from a can, and didn't get tested for diabetes.. .
then after that trauma, our baby cribs were covered with bright colored lead-based paints.. .
I also remember that we were taught to respect our elders (older people) and if an adult in the neighbood saw you do something bad, you hoped they wouldn't tell your parents or boy, you were going to get it.
