  Do you charge your 18+ kids rent?

  i've been wondering what people think about this.

  as soon as i turned 18 and had an income (it was disability but income just the same) my parents began to charge me room and board.

  is this common practice?

  Just wanted to add one point....

  Even if you didn't do nuch in the way of chores while you lived at home, it seems that as your parents get older, you become more of the parent and they become the child. Therefore you get to do many of the chores/duties that your parents use to do for you.

  That's another reason while it is wise for parents to always treat their children with respect. One day most likely the tables will turn.

  I always wonder how parents could reject or shun their children knowing that as they become older these are the people who will take care of their needs, not the elders or the GB.

  As long as I attended college, I didn't need to pay rent to my parents. when I finished school and got my first job, I then paid rent.

  My parents surprised me on my wedding day and gave me back all of the money I paid them in the form of a gift for a down payment on a house.

  My daughter will pay rent to me and my wife when she finishes school next year. I will then present her with the money back as a gift whenever she get married or decides to buy property, which ever comes first.

  Family Reunion

  this past weekend, i attended my family's annual reunion (scheduled a week before thanksgiving, and they served turkey...hmmm) and became literally sick because they are all jw and talked of nothing else.

  i finally realized how sad the normal jw's life is.

  they really have nothing else going for them, thats why the thought of leaving is so unbelievable.

  Your Dad sounds alot like my Mom. She even uses the same term "get my act together".

  When ever my family gather togther everthing seems to revolve around their religion including the conversation.

  I know exactly how you feel.

  They may never wake up.

  Circuit Overseers

  Most COs we had were pretty arrogant, but the one I liked the best was Pedro Hines and his wife, I think they were originally from PA.

  They were young and down to earth and both had gone to college before they went into the curicuit work. They were very good to the young people and they stayed with my family all the time.

  We also had JR Brown, who actually was a nice guy back in the day. He was outspoken about going to college and encouraged me to do so.

  I wonder why he changed.

  he gets up early so i dont mind, but he wants me to go with him.

  sometimes i dont but tonight i did,cos he hates going by himself ahhhh.

  I would go with the nose strips.

  Also you might want to tape his snoring one night, he might not realize how loud he snores.

  I also used to have the rule that when I go to bed, wifey must come to bed as well. However after hearing myself snore, I realized that my snoring was cruel and inhumane treatment.

  Anyone experienced the private Kingdom Schools?

  i was a teacher for the first year of a newly organized "kingdom school", in 1977.

  ) this was a private school for jw's kids.

  There was one (might still be there) in Queens NY on Farmers Blvd.

  My sisters in law went there as children and I knew the elder who owned the school.

  He did quite well financially.

  No I never have.

  Since a group of people that I was very close to embezzeled money from many poor dubs, I stay away from dubs and business.

  KATE MOSS OR KATE WINSLET?

  i just read that kate moss has been given more modelling jobs now that she's been a whole month "clean" of using cocaine which is how she kept her body at skin and bones.

  i hear lots of women say they'd "love to have a body like hers", when we know the only way she can keep that skinny is by using drugs.

  i was told that i was "just jealous" and that "all women would like to be that thin.
