Movies that follow a common theme
by Markfromcali ini think this might be a new twist on this kind of topic, i will start.. a subject that is of interest to me is awakening, and off hand my list would include vanilla sky, waking life, and fight club.
there's probably one or two i am forgetting, anyone who thinks of one please add to this list.
see even if they are very different it can have a common theme... edited to add: of course i mean any list/theme you may be interested in, not just this one

Belief and experience in religion
by Markfromcali inhave you ever noticed how you have belief and experience in different proportions when it comes to religion?
on the one hand you might have the fundy that just crams every experience into the interpretation of a static belief system, and on the other you have the typical new age kind of mindset where every kind of belief is conjured up to support your experience.
for those who have seen the movie office space, remember the game "jump to conclusions"?

Clown therapy
by Markfromcali ini was sitting around with a coworker and came up with these.
i think there's something to a lot of this, as some of you know i'm a massage therapist - but that doesn't mean i wouldn't make fun of it:.
* acu-peer-pressure (we call you at random times to motivate you on a chosen key issue).

Is your 'reality' just thought?
by Markfromcali inmost of the time there seems to be talk that essentially consists of whether this thought is better, is more logical or makes more sense - but what about the nature of it being just thought?
in one way this may seem obvious or boring so as to be easily dismissed, but for example when it comes to religious beliefs things can get really screwed up, even if you think your particular brand is better.
(however, this would not be limited to religion) it would be like someone who thinks everything on tv is real, and being disinterested in that fact in favor of being entertained by the various stories portrayed in all the shows.. consider the follow quote from thought as a system by david bohm.

Trick or treating as a JW on Halloween
by Markfromcali inof course you have to atleast be able to pass as a teenager, but imagine being dressed up as a publisher and opening your bookbag at the door going "trick or treat!
" and why not, it's as good as any other ghost or demon.
and of course, it's an opportunity to give a witness, about the witnesses.. i used to have a similar idea like dressing up as santa and trick or treating or something.. anyone remember what that was?.

JWs cause divisions on all levels
by Markfromcali inhave you ever noticed this pattern?
for one thing we know their interpretation/translation of being "no part of the world", even within the ranks there's this judgement about bad association, within the family unit again some might be shunned, and finally even within the individual there is a lot of what they judge as bad tendancies.
isn't love the opposite movement?

pros and cons of listing on exJW database
by Markfromcali inhey all, i'm wondering about whether it would be a good idea to list myself on such a database, but i hesitate because if an active jw sees it they won't talk to me anymore (i'm just 'inactive') and word may spread.
i don't know a lot of people from other areas, and i don't know that they would find such a database either, but i just like to keep things open.
but of course, if i don't list myself and someone i know who has left should happen to check then that would be an opportunity missed.

"You're insane."
by Markfromcali inthis quote is taken from the movie fight club, spoken by edward norton's character "jack.
" tyler, who is jack's imaginary friend, responds by saying: "no, i think you'll find that you're insane.".
the reason tyler says this is the fact that jack is the one who is imagining tyler into existence, and taking him as real.
