Some people need to be told what to do in their lives otherwise they can't make the proper decisions (i.e. drug habit). They turn to controlling places like JWs to tell them what to do.

The term "disassociation" applies to the action taken by a person who, although a baptized member of the congregation, deliberately repudiates his Christian standing, rejecting the congregation by his actions or by stating that he no longer wants to be recognized as or known as one of Jehovah's Witnesses.
Reading this sort of crap makes me glad I am gone/fading. Is anyone else planning on fading any differently? If another JW sees you doing something, how far are they going to go with "rejecting the congregation by his actions"? -

Should I "picket" the JW assembly with my "apostate" friends or not?
by booker-t inevery year since i da'ed myself i have two good friends that are ex-jws that beg me to come and "picket'' the jw assemblies with them.
i have turn them down every year but i kind of think i want to do it because my reasoning is that if i picket i will finally be telling jw's and the wts that i am not afraid of them.
i didn't realize how much "fear" the wts puts into its members until the other day when i ran into my jw sister at the supermarket and she literally left her 1/2 full shopping cart and ran out of the store without speaking to me.

Try to come off as normal as possible. Otherwise, you will readily associated with the fringe elements and immediately ignored.

If the WT were to "reform" would you stay or go back?
by confusedjw inthis thought has sprung from recent threads and speculation over the new book.
i know many who post here are still active jw's or ones who were df'd, but may have not totally left the belief system.
many have trouble with the methods and policies of the wt concerning dfing, restrictions, blood, local elders etc.

Removing that stuff makes JW's more like a mainstream religion. At that point why bother joining a cult with a freakish past and join a mainstream religion with a freakish past.

I got into a relationship with a JW.
Those are famous last words. You aren't the first person and you won't be the last. Trying to prove a doctrinal issue is futile as she will always fall back on what she has always known. The Watchtower makes all her decisions for her.
She may like you, but love isn't strong enough to break the chains of a cult. -

When I was still a JW, I went out in service. I didn't knock on any doors and usually spent the time running errands or going to Best Buy. Saturday morning was a good time to run errands since everyone else is still asleep. Somehow I found 8-12 hours to report on my time sheet.

Why no Crisis of Conscience eBook pdf version?
by truth_about_the_truth inthere has to be a lot of fading or questioning jw out there that want to read this book but are afraid of getting the hard copy because of fears of getting caught, mailing issues, etc.
i think if this were available as an ebook, so many more ppl would be able to read it.
it would make it so much easier for those who want to take a look at this discreetly and take the leap.

You two have demonstrated that you know nothing about copyright LAW, that you comprehend nothing about the underlying principles of property rights, and that you have no respect for the creators of value (in this case, Ray Franz).
Some authors are allowing a PDF available for download for free or with a contribution. These authors also maintain a hard copy version of their book from the same site. Even if Ray had a sizable number hard copies, he could still sell them like other people are doing and have a downloadable version. Personally, I would have a PDF version as you have a lot less overhead to selling that way. -

A great way to distribute books, music, etc is with the Creative Commons license. Another is Project Gutenburg. They publish a lot of books on the Internet.
