Elders should mind their business!!!!!
by rocky220 inelders who are married should do the best they can to make their own wives happy, since their duties take so much time away from personal lives........and not be too concerned with other peoples personal and private happiness!!!!

Which did you prefer? Watchtower or Awake?
by LDH inwhen i was a jw, i really couldn't stomach the watchtowers.
the only articles i would read would be for the family study/watchtower study.
it seemed so archaic and old-people-ish.. i did read the awake from cover to cover almost every time.

does anyone have the answer?
by ness21 ini was brought up in "the truth", i have the odd bible study now and again, funny enough the last time was a week after 9/11, as im still subconsciously in fear of armageddon, but i haven fundamental problems with some of their teaching, hence my joy at finding this site.
i also used to think armageddon was coming at the sight of the smallest storm.
has anybody found what they think is "the truth" since coming away?.

THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN ELDERS AND OTHERS

the average jw can't.
elders can call you for a judicial meeting and charge you with anything.

At the risk of sounding redundant, the entire "elder arrangement" should be disbanded. Many of the ones who "qualified" as "elders", ones have been anointed with indescribable power, in my experience were and remain as some of the most dysfuctional groups of men to ever be bandied about.

You talk about defending groups who are "pigeonholed" well so do I. Just not pompus, self-righteous, condescending, contentious, arrogant ones who cannot stand to be challenged. i.e. Dubs.

A Week Later; I'm Still Confused.......
by Sentinel inwell, it's been one week since mom called to tell me that she is reverting back to a previous behavior from 1981, called "hard line shunning".
this is after some ten years now, of having communication with me in a restrictive manner.
(well, as "normal" as it could be for us anyway.

DID YOU ENJOY SHERHERDING CALLS?

when a problem arises, elders are supposed to be there.
visiting in homes was something the organization always stressed.
