Tree and deocrations are still up. My fiancee is Russian Orthodox and their Chistmas is January 7, so we will take the tree down next Saturday.

the first "after-wts" year that we celebrated christmas, i left everything up until the 7th of january!
it doesn't seem like we've enjoyed them long enough!.

How many here grew up JW but had worldly friends?

we are still good friends.
i wonder if that led to our being a tad bit more open minded and aided in our exit???

Do you and your significant other share religious beliefs?
by MelbaToast insometimes, i think my husband is much more church oriented than i am.
i still get upset when i attend church, but lately he has been putting the push on me for us to go back to his church where he grew up in.
he would like to start taking our daughter so she has a somewhat structured religious belief.

My fiancee and I are both Christians, though we belong to different church families. She is Russian Orthodox and I am Anglo-Catholic (Episcopalian). Because the Orthodox observe Christmas and Easter a few weeks after we do, it enables my fiancee and I to attend services at both churches as a family.

What do you do when you cant sleep?
by pr_capone ini have been sick for the past few days and i havent been sleeping right until last night.
i took a few tylenol pm and they knocked me right out.
i slept most of today and now that its night time again i cant sleep.. so my question to you is, when you cant sleep... what do you do to finally go to sleep?.

Interesting that we have both read a lot on Thomas Edward Lawrence. I visited Clouds Hill in October 1998. Also toured the Bovington Camp Tank Museum, St. Martin's Church, the Wareham Museum, and the cemetery of St. Nicolas Church in Moreton. Saw the accident site too. I think Jeremy Wilson's book is the best biography of Lawrence.

Heckling and Smoking During Public Talks .

it was always such a hoot, the public talk.
the "chairman" would introduce the speaker to the members of the public.

In our congregation there was this alcoholic sister who carried a flask in her purse. During the talk she would visit the bathroom and take a few swigs of her favorite alcoholic beverage and then return to her seat smelling like a distillery.

Do you remember when meetings had intermission??
by Jez inabout 20 to 25 years ago, there was a brief time where there was an intermission in between the public talk and the wt study.
it was about 10 mins long.
gave ppl time to walk around, go to the bathroom etc.

Those were the days. Long meetings and intermissions. They also had 8 day conventions that started at 9 in the morning and went til 9 at night. I don't miss them at all.

The green bibles???????????
by vitty ina couple of years ago we where told by the co that some people were still using the green bibles.......shock horror!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
and that we shouldnt as it was showing that we didnt appreciate the latest ones...black or maroon.

Anybody remember when the first pocket sized NWT was released in the 1960s? The first editions had a red cover, and the story was that the Society got a good deal on the material. I think that was the reason why the 1969 edition of the Kingdom Interlinear was bound in purple. Thats the book Bill Cetnar called the Purple People Eater. However, the 1985 Kingdom Interlinear has a dark blue cover. I don't know what color binding the newer editions have. But surely the Watch Tower purchasing agents got a good deal on the material.
